DIY Wall Calendar
I wanted to hang a new calendar on the wall in the loft, but didn't like any that I was finding in stores so I decided to make my own! I figured I would show you how to make your own acrylic wall calendar too. If you have a Cricut, this will be super easy with minimal supplies. Let's get started!
2023 Recap
2023 was quite the year, both for our family and content wise! So let's do a quick little recap of the year as a whole.
My Dad’s Closet Refresh
My parents moved into the house they live in now in 2020. When they did my dad had this massive closet that he was not using most of. So he asked me to redo to make it a little bit more functional for him. Since he was only using a fraction of it we decided to dedicate the half he wasn't using to storage. The previous owner of this home had really random cabinets in the space that had locks on them as well as outlets and vents (frankly, very bizarre in my opinion) and there were so many more drawers than my dad ever would need. So I got to work using what I could that was leftover from the previous owner to make an adequate storage solution happen while keeping the integrity of the closet.
The Different Kinds of Clamps I Use to DIY
Clamps are some of the most useful tools that you can have in your DIY arsenal, but not all clamps are made the same, nor are they made to do the same things. So, let's talk about the different clamps that I use when I do a DIY project.
2023 Christmas Crafts
I've made a few fun DIY Christmas crafts to add to our Christmas decor this year that I want to share with you. Some are repurposing old things, some are adding to new things and some are taking a whole new idea and creating my own spin. Lets get started!
How to Use a Multi Tool
A multi tool is a power tool capable of taking on a bunch of different DIY jobs. The one I have is the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Brushless Cordless 3 Speed Oscillating Multi tool. I love this tool because it can be used for SO many different things. It has a head that you can put different attachments onto. I mostly use it for cutting, but you can also use it for sanding and polishing. Let's talk about it!
DIY King Bed Frame
When we moved into our house in 2020, we upgraded from a queen to a king size bed. At the time I bought the cheapest bed frame that I could find that I was moderately okay with and, honestly, it has not held up well. So I went to a local lumber yard, found a gorgeous piece of wormy maple and decided to build a headboard that I actually loved.
Why You Need a Drill and a Driver
We're back again to talk about another set of tools that are really necessary. Today, we're going over why you need BOTH a power drill and an impact driver.
House Bed FAQs
Whenever I share about the house bed that I built for my daughter, I inevitably get a lot of repeated questions about it. So I'm dedicating an entire post to the eight most frequently asked questions I get about the house bed. These are not in any particular order. They're just questions that I get and I'm going to answer for you today.
My Process for Making a Space More Neurodivergent Friendly
If you've been following me for a little while, you know that a lot of the DIY projects that I do in our home are to better utilize the space for our neurodivergent family's needs. While I've talked about WHAT makes these new spaces neurodivergent friendly, I want to talk through my process of HOW I better utilize our space to make it more neurodivergent friendly.
My Favorite Non-Power Tools
I decided to do a round up of all of my favorite (and sometimes new or unconventional) non-power tools. Spoiler alert: this list doesn't include my tape measure because that, to me, is just an obvious. Lets go!
A Wall of Closets
When my parents moved into their house over three years ago, my grandparents also moved into the house with them. After about a year in the house, my parents decided to renovate the Jack and Jill bathroom and two bedrooms into a suite for my grandparents. When they were designing the suite, one of the things they wanted in the renovation was to create a hallway of closets. While my mom got several quotes from multiple companies for installing a set of closets in this space, they were all very expensive. Together, we came up with a design and I decided it to tackle it myself.
