Hi friends! It's been a minute since I've done a post. I'm still struggling with my health and my energy levels are VERY low as I work with a team of doctors to figure out what's going on, so thanks for being patient! I've wanted to continue work on my son's room, but just haven't had it in me. So instead we're talking about updating the emergency preparedness kits we made a few years ago. When I made them originally, I made a kit for each member of my family, and the feedback I got was very mixed. Some people thought they were great, some thought they were over the top and some questioned why I would even need them in the first place. Well, in the past few years the US alone has had fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and along with a global pandemic. Personally, I'm not taking any chances and am going to prepare my family as best as I can. Many parts of the world understand the importance of a 72-hour kit. It keeps necessities ready and available for you for if you encounter a disaster or if for some reason you need to leave your home quickly. So, let's restock ours so you can see what's essential for our family at different stages.
We have three full baths and one half bath in our home. When we moved into the house 5 years ago we only had a pedestal sink in the half bath. The house in general is VERY low on storage so I have spent 5 years adding storage wherever I can but have put this bathroom on the back burner. My husband works from home in our bedroom, so I usually get ready for the day downstairs so I can keep an eye on my son while I do. However, having all of my hair/makeup stuff downstairs makes the kitchen area really cluttered so I decided to finally bite the bullet and create storage in the bathroom.
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we are all excited and have had a good time decorating for Christmas! I want to share with you some of the toddler friendly Christmas decorations that I've collected over the years as I have made an effort to cater my Christmas decorations around my kids instead of the other way around.
A while ago, I wrote a post about curating a neurodivergent home. We realized the standard way of living we were raised with or that we saw other people living simply didn't work for our family. We have come up with systems that DO work for our family. This post really resonated with a lot of people, but as time went on and our home and needs changed, I figured other people would like to see how things changed as our family and needs changed too. Here are our updated ways to make our neurodivergent home work for us.
There's so many things I want to with this room to better utilize space, make it a fun area for both kids and build a custom bed for my son. To start this process I need to utilize the space in the closet.
As most of you know, I have been gradually adding storage all over our house because it's always lacked in the storage department. Well, the day has finally come for me to share the storage cubbies that I made in my daughters room! I've shown you how I made the chair for her, how I organized all of her toys for this space, and I'm now finally done with the cubbies.
