Sensory Room Makeover Plans
Even though I'm not home and won’t be able to do this until 2025, I'm going to share with you my ideas for my son's bedroom. His room is the third floor of our house. It leads onto a deck, which is enclosed so he can't get out and its perfectly safe. There's also an en suite bathroom and a closet, and it's just a really large space. This room has been multiple things over the years, but it's always had a guest bed in it. So I want to do something special for him and build a house bed like I did for my daughter.
Ball Run Using Magnetic Tiles
The main toy that we brought with us to Argentina was our magnetic tiles and the ball run set that a family member got for my kids for their birthdays. We also got a cool container that you can put all of the magnetic tiles in that unfolds into a play mat which is really nice for having a stable place to build a ball run like this. I wanted to show you how we built the ball run because both of the kids LOVE it!
Organize My Workshop With Me for 6 Months Away
If you don't already know, my family's going to Argentina for six months - myself, my husband, and our two kids. We have somebody staying in our house, but I can't leave my workshop in my parents garage for six months looking messy and disorganized. I'm going to get it all cleaned up, because that's the right thing to do. I also have a couple of things that I need to deal with, like this countertop on my workbench that is covered in epoxy from all of the epoxy pours I've been doing lately. It needs to come off and switched for a different board. I want things organized and put things back together so my parents can utilize their garage while I am gone.
Packing for Argentina
My family is going to Argentina for six months. We are leaving the beginning of June and we're coming back mid December and it's time to pack! There's a lot of stuff I can't pack yet because we're using it but once Jackie is out of school I will be able to go through her stuff with her and have her pick out favorite toys. I thought I would take you along for the ride while I packed to show you the suitcases that we have, the packing cubes that I'm using, the essential things that I'm using to pack.
How to do DIY Projects Without Owning a Table Saw
I feel like owning a table saw is something that scares a lot of people and can be a barrier to entry for doing DIY. It may surprise you, but, the first chunk of projects in my DIY journey I completed without a table saw. So I want to talk to you today about how you can do DIY projects without owning a table saw because it is possible!
How We are Prepping Our Daughter for 6 Months Out of the Country
My family is going to Argentina for six months. We are leaving in the beginning of June and coming back in the middle of December. We are going for my husband's job and we're pretty excited about it! The question I've been getting a lot, though, is how are we preparing our daughter for this big change and this trip? For context, our daughter is seven. She is autistic and change is hard for her. So I wanted to share a couple of things that we are doing to help her with those transitions.
Favorite Tile Mat Designs
I have been doing tile mat designs for several years now, but it isn't going to Argentina with us. So I decided to share with you some of my favorite tile mat designs that I have done over the years.
Putting Together The Autism Binder
So my seven year old is autistic, and when she was going through the process of being diagnosed, a family member recommended that I start putting everything together in a file. The file included her evaluation, anything I was concerned about, her IEP, etc. and that turned into this binder. Each year I add to the binder, and it's time to do that now. I need to add the stuff from this year into the binder, also get a new binder. So while I'm reworking the whole thing I figured that I could show you everything that goes into this as well as all of the supplies that you need, including the $5 download that I created that makes putting it together a breeze.
Prepping Our House to Be Gone for 6 Months
My family is going to Argentina for six months for my husband's job. While we are gone, we are going to have some family friends house sit for us. That means that I need to get my house ready for us to be gone for six months because it's a whole different ballgame than moving or just going on vacation. So I'm gonna walk you through some of the things I did to prep for those six months away!
What I am Taking to Argentina
My family is going to Buenos Aires, Argentina for six months. We leave at the beginning of June and come back the middle of December. Up until now I've been wrapping up my DIY projects and prepping my house for another family to stay in it for six months. I'm finally at the point where I can start packing. I started by throwing everything I knew that I wanted to bring on the guest bed on the third floor. It's a lot so I will do an extra post on that. So I'm going to do a separate post on packing, suitcases and all of that. Today I want to talk about the stuff that I'm actually taking. Obviously this is not going to be an extensive list, but I want to talk about some important things and why I'm taking them.
Summer Tile Mat Ideas
The seasons are changing, it's getting warmer, and the cicadas are coming out here in Tennessee which means it's time for new tile mat designs. I have this tile mat from Letterfolk that I love to create designs for and share them with all of you. I typically like to share a lot of really elaborate designs when I share different seasonal and holiday designs. This summer, though, I'm going a little bit more simple with the designs.
Closing Out the School Year Using the Forever File Box
If you're anything like me, you probably have a stack of papers from throughout your child's school year that you don't know what you're going to do with. You also probably need to figure out what you're going to do with all of those papers. I'm going to show you the Forever File Box, which is something that my team and I created that makes it super easy to keep track of everything for your kids throughout their childhood. For our family the general rule is if it doesn't fit in the box, it doesn't get kept. This makes it easy to consolidate what's being kept each year.
