In middle school I started getting hives on my arms. To the point that my arms were always bleeding. I wore long sleeves even on the hottest days. The dermatologist suggested we use scent and dye free laundry detergent. It helped a little but I will always have scars on my arms. The hives were still a problem but not as bad. When I was in college and I was diagnosed with my wheat allergy, I was also diagnosed with a dust mite allergy. I am not going to go into detail on what dust mites are. The best way to battle a dust mite allergy is with you bed. Again, google it. But this is a good way to deal with your bed even if you don't have a dust mite allergy! The first thing you need to do is get a good mattress cover for your bed. This is the best way to protect your mattress from literally everything. You will be amazed at what your mattress looks like when it comes out of one of these covers! You will also want to get pillow covers.
You will need to wash your bedding in HOT water every week. This can be a huge pain but it's necessary. I chose to go with duvets inside of a duvet cover along with our white sheets. I have had comforters and duvets and I have decided that duvets are much better. You can change out the duvets if you need to.

Yes. As long as I stick to my schedule of washing my sheets weekly, I don't get hives. I know other people who have the same allergy who have a runny nose or congestion as their symptoms. When they have followed this system, they also found their symptoms went away.
