A Quick & Inexpensive Way to Upgrade Your Sconces

We had builder grade sconces that came with our house and I really didn't like them. I decided to go to Lowe's to look for upgrade options. I found that they have these sconces you can buy on their own without having to replace the entire light fixture. Let me show you what I did.

A Quick & Inexpensive Way to Upgrade Your Sconces | Testing Out the Options

The first thing I did was I turn off the power to the staircase. I removed the light fixtures and then did a little bit of experimenting. I spray painted everything gold, except for the clear glass sconces, and then once everything was dry I reinstalled the light fixture. Then, I started trying out all of the different sconce options to see which ones I liked better.

First, I tried the original sconce I had spray painted. I didn't like it at all, but it was worth a try since I already had it. Then, I tried the crackled glass sconce. I kind of liked this one, but it gave some weird lighting which I wasn't a fan of.

I really loved the clear glass sconce. It gave off a ton of light, looked really crisp and clean and could even be installed upside down for a different look.

The geometric cage sconce looked really unique which I liked, but I realized all of the crevices would make the dusting it kind of difficult.

After a lot of back and forth, I actually decided to use two different sconces. l used the clear glass sconce for our first set of stairs. I love how classic and clean they look. For our second set of stairs, I used the geometric cage sconces. I love how they are cool and modern and add an extra bit of character to the space. These sconce upgrades were so simple and affordable, but they make a big impact. It's always a win when you can customize your space in an easy way!
