One of My Favorite Christmas Traditions | Buy A Kit

One of my favorite things to do around the holidays is build gingerbread houses with the girls. We have discovered that the most productive/fun way to do it is by using kits. Instead of trying to find the right gingerbread recipe and hoping that they will stay nice through the holidays, a kit has just always been easier. This year, I found kits from Lidl for $7. Which is the cheapest I have ever seen, especially for houses of this size. So if you have a Lidl, near by, I would highly recommend getting these!

For $7, you get a lot out of these kits. The best part is they come with a little stand that helps you get the house formed. If you have ever built a gingerbread house before, you know this is the hardest part. The forms were a critical part in making sure the houses formed correctly and didn't fall apart. Paris did this the day before we decorated the houses.

Then comes the decorating! Of course, there are the decorations that come in the kits, which are usually fine. But we like to add some extra candies to our houses so we can make them look just they way we want.

My cousins like to decorate their house like most young kids would. So we always let them decorate their own house, it works better for everyone! We can then decorate a different house to look a little more sophisticated. One of my favorite things is to add extra frosting around the houses to look like snow and secure them to the trays we keep them on. You can then add sprinkles and glitter to the "snow" to make it look even more extra.
