Home Decor That's Neurodivergent Friendly

I wanted to share some neurodivergent friendly home decor ideas. As a reminder, I have ADHD, my husband has ADHD, our daughter is autistic, and we have a 10 month old. These things work for our neurodivergent house, they might not work for yours, but there's some ideas to start you off.

Home Decor That's Neurodivergent Friendly | Interchangeable Sign

First up is an interchangeable sign. I got mine from 27 Mill Lane back in like 2018. They don't make these anymore; however the owner did mention she is going to be doing a revamped version of it this year. I'm a subtle Disney fan so you'll find little hints of Disney throughout my house, I even did the Disney college program forever ago. I love this sign because it's super easy to change in and out. I can get other pieces from other shops to add to it. My collection now includes a sunflower, mermaid tail, ice cream cone as well as one for each of the seasons/holidays. I love this because I can change it up when I feel like it, but if it doesn't change, it's not a big deal. Not only that, but it takes minimal effort and storage space.

Home Decor That's Neurodivergent Friendly | Blankets and Pillows

The next one is blankets and pillows. We have a lot of blankets in our house. The majority of them I get from Saranoni and Jac and Jae Designs. Sadly, Jac and Jae has closed, so you can't get blankets from them anymore, but Saranoni is still going strong! I like these blankets specifically because they're really soft and fluffy, but also have weight to them which is great for those of us who are neurodivergent.

I also love changing pillows seasonally. I've spent the last few years finding pillows that work for Easter, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and Summer so I change them out when I put the decor out for each season. They're all really soft and plush and there isn't a single one we don't use. We all love them and it's such a simple way to change up your seasonal decor, while also making it functional.

Home Decor That's Neurodivergent Friendly | Letterfolk Tile Mat

The next one is the famous tile mat from Letterfolk. If you've followed me for a little bit, you've definitely seen one of my videos of me changing up my tile mat. I love the tile mat for the same reason I love the interchangeable sign: I can change it up when I want to.

Also, I feel like the tile mat checks a couple neurodivergent boxes. One, it gives me a creative outlet, which is something I am desperately in need of. Two, it keeps me from buying random doormats all the time. I used to buy a new one for each season and having to store them is so obnoxious. Now if I see something cute written on a doormat in a store, I can just go home and write it on my tile mat. And three, if I do feel the need to buy something for this, I'm just buying more tiles so that I can use my creative outlet more.

I've had a lot of fun with this mat.  I've come up with a bunch of different designs. I use so many different colors and I am able to express myself with my non-conventional color palette. It's just a fun way to change things up whenever I feel like it or not when I don't.

Home Decor That's Neurodivergent Friendly | Weighted Stuffed Animals

The last one is weighted stuffed animals. This is mostly for the kids, but we use them as well as the adults too. These are really nice because again, they're soft and cozy just like the pillows. We use them all over the house and you can get them in different price points. From more expensive ones from Disney, to less expensive from Target and Walmart. There are SO many different styles and sizes to choose from so you can express yourself with your special interest.

That wraps up our list! Hopefully this list helps you find some neurodivergent friendly decor to help you style your home while being able to express your style comfortably.
