Best Way To Remove Baseboards | The Process
Starting with the stud finder and pencil, I'm going to go along the wall and mark where the studs are. The stud finder I have is amazing because it measures the whole width of the stud instead of just alerting me when it has come across one.
Next, I'm going take the blade and score the caulk that's along the seam between the baseboard and the wall so it separates cleanly from the wall. This next part of the process is where having the studs marked really makes a difference.
Keeping the blade close by, I am going to use the flatter side of the trim remover tool to start prying the baseboard away from the wall where I have marked where there are studs. If I start to have a hard time getting the baseboard to come away, I will use my blade to score the caulk a little bit more. Nine times out of ten that is what's keeping it adhered to the wall.
After that, I start prying with my tool where the studs are and I can get it removed from the wall with minimal damage. The whole process is pretty easy to do and only leaves a few minor dents in the wall which is a win for me. Removing baseboards seems like a daunting task, but I promise with a little bit of practice you will be a pro in no time!
