Why You Should Try Bike Shorts | Why I Was Hesitant

I was not on the bike short band wagon. There are some trends that I am just not interested in and I don't think I ever will be, bike shorts was one of those trends. They were meant for people who actually rode bikes and since that wasn't me, I wouldn't be adding them to my closet. I also was convinced that they only came in black.

I had leggings for working out, shorts for when I didn't want to wear a dress and dresses for everything else for when it's hot out. Since I don't usually wear lounge wear on a daily basis, even during COVID, it didn't make sense to buy more lounge wear. However, when we decided to move, I started wearing more t shirts and leggings on a regular basis.

Why You Should Try Bike Shorts | What Changed My Mind

Turns out Chattanooga is hot! When we got here, I was still wearing a lot of T shirts and leggings while we unpacked and I did my DIY projects for the house. But I was getting really hot and I only had so many pairs of leggings! My friend Emma convinced me to try bike shorts, just to change things up.

I ordered three pairs, in two colors, to see what I liked. I figured I could return any of the ones that didn't work. Turns out they all worked! I loved the length, fit, fabric and overall look. It was just what I needed to change up my DIY outfits and possibly even my travel outfits!

Why You Should Try Bike Shorts | Finding The Right Ones For You

Once I found that I wanted to add bike shorts to my wardrobe, I started to play around with the different kinds of shorts. I love the fabric from these leggings, so I knew I wanted shorts that were similar. The side pockets were also a must. If you haven't tried leggings or bike shorts with pockets, you need to. I don't buy shorts without pockets now! I did try this T shirt and short set and while I loved the top, the shorts weren't great. There was very little spandex and there weren't pockets!

To find the right shorts for you, you need to decide what inseam length you want. I like 8"-9" length shorts. When shopping for shorts, I make sure that I only buy ones within that length. Like I mentioned, I only like pockets on my bikers. If I am going to be working on a project, working out or traveling while wearing these shorts, I need a place to put things.

Why You Should Try Bike Shorts | Pairing with T Shirts

When it comes to pairing with T shirts, you can go several different directions. I know the biggest trend, the one I am sporting in today's pictures, is an over sized shirt. This is a cute look, you just need to be sure that you get a big enough shirt. I am wearing a men's XL shirt in today's pictures.

To change things up, I have also paired my bike shorts with more fitted t shirts as well. I still make them a little looser than I would usually wear but I still really like the look! I have rounded up some of my favorite bike shorts that I have found so far along with some shirts that I have been pairing with my shorts!
