Why We Bought Another Stroller

I did something I swore I would never do - I bought a second stroller. If you know me at all, you know this a HUGE deal. We have had our UPPAbaby Vista stroller since 2016. I bought it the Black Friday before my daughter was born. I love this stroller with all of my heart. We use it constantly and both of our kids have loved it. I love that the rumble seat goes up to 50 pounds, it folds up really nicely and will stand up on its own and it's easy to take care of. UPPAbaby is also amazing when it comes to warranty and replacing parts or even finding new parts that need to be replaced that aren't under warranty. While this is an expensive stroller, you get the bassinet and the rumble seat with it and it has lasted us seven years, two kids and a lot of traveling.

Why We Bought Another Stroller | Pros and Cons

Since being in Buenos Aires, we've discovered that it's been difficult to get our UPPAbaby stroller on public transportation. Sometimes it is too wide to go through a bus door and we have to take a wheel off. Other times we get to a train station that is supposed to have an elevator and the elevator isn't working. Then we have to carry the stroller up the stairs which is not something I can do by myself when I'm out with the kids. As much as it broke my heart, we went and bought another stroller. I never wanted to do this and have always been so proud that I've never had to buy another stroller. Unfortunately, it ended up being a necessity and it turns out I actually really like the new stroller!

The thing I love about this stroller is that it folds so compact you can do it with one hand and it has a suitcase handle for easy carrying. I mean how amazing is that? It makes it SO easy to take places. Since buying it, we've been able to take it out and about and it's super easy to get on and off buses. I ran into an issue that tested it the very first time I took the stroller out with the kids. Our typical train station has two elevators, one from the street down to the entrance and one from that entrance to the actual train platform. Those elevators usually work, but that day neither were working. So I took the baby out of the stroller, folded the stroller up, put the backpack on my back and carried the baby and the stroller down the stairs. Once we were down I was able to put the baby back in the stroller, along with the backpack and we were able to go through the entrance to the train station and then take the escalator down to the platform. While that is not something I want to do all the time it definitely passed the test for me! My UPPAbaby stroller is way too heavy, I would never have been able to do that!

When comparing it to my UPPAbaby there are some definite downsides. First, is that it definitely doesn't have the same amount of storage as the UPPAbaby. The basket on the UPPAbaby stroller can fit SO much in it, including our giant diaper bag, my husband's work bag and three to four other things.

This other stroller's basket definitely pales in comparison. It can barely hold the diaper bag!

The second downside is the lack of cup holders and snack tray. My son is at that age where he is snacking while we are moving all the time. Not having a place for things is pretty annoying, especially for my little snacker. The third downside, is that is just not as sturdy as the UPPAbaby. I love the sturdiness of the wheels on the UPPAbaby. It will take bumps, curbs, and any other maneuvering super easily. This stroller, not so much. Having taken it out a few times, I definitely notice it's a little bit harder to maneuver. It will take some getting used to but it's just not the same.

The last downside is that it is smaller has a much smaller weight limit to it than the UPPAbaby does. The rumble seat on the UPPAbaby is up to 50 pounds and my son is already over 30 pounds. While we had hoped to take this stroller home with us when we go home in December because it is so lightweight and compact, I'm not sure that my son is going to fit in it by December.

Here are my final thoughts: Am I happy about having to do this? Absolutely not. Was it completely out of necessity and for a very specific reason? Yes. And I'm rolling with it, but the UPPAbaby is still my number one favorite stroller and it is worth every single penny.
