What I Have Learned From Being A Maskcara Beauty Artist for One Year | It's Easier Than I Thought
When I first became a Maskcara Beauty artist, I thought I would have to put a ton of time into it. I had just gotten out of working with another Direct Sales company (more on that on Friday) and I had been putting in more work than I wanted to. I wanted this to be a side hustle. Something I could do when I had time and would be fun. Something I already loved, that I could share with other people. I didn't want it to become my job. I already have a full time job.
It turns out, this is the EASIEST side hustle ever. I don't have to buy any product or meet monthly goals to get commissions when customers buy. I get paid every month, as long as someone buys something from me. Which I haven't had a month without a purchase from someone. I do have goals every month, but those are for bonuses. I don't have to buy up a bunch of product at the end of each month to make sure I meet those goals. I either do or I don't. I also don't have to carry ANY stock. It is actually against policy to carry stock. Customers buy from the website and it ships to them directly from corporate!
What I Have Learned From Being A Maskcara Beauty Artist for One Year | It Is Fun
I am going to be honest, I can be shy. If I don't know you very well, I am going to struggle with talking to you. But I can get on a Facebook Live video and talk to a camera and then answer questions all day. That has been the easy part. I have done a few vendor shows where I had to talk to strangers and sell the makeup. And you know what? It was fun. And it got me out of my comfort zone. I took my 9 year old cousin with me and she has become incredibly well versed in the products. She is my little assistant!
I love helping women find makeup that works for them and helping them feel beautiful. I have worked with women who have acne scars, mature skin and even teenagers. I have met so many women as a Maskcara Beauty Artist and I have loved every minute of it!
What I Have Learned From Being A Maskcara Beauty Artist for One Year | I Can Do It Online
So I know I just said that I have done some vendor events, but for the most part, my business has been done online. Between blog posts, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook & Twitter, my new customers tend to come from finding my on Pinterest and Instagram. I have had women I have never spoken to or interacted with buy from me. They like my videos and that I post on social media consistently. I spend maybe 4 hours a week on my Maskcara Beauty business. Could I spend more time on it and make more money? Yes. But I like that I can be flexible with it. I am currently hosting a party on Facebook to celebrate my one year anniversary.
What I Have Learned From Being A Maskcara Beauty Artist for One Year | You Don't Have To Be A Pro
You would think that if I am a Maskcara Beauty Artist that I had some background in makeup before I started. Nope. I actually struggled with makeup before I found Maskcara Beauty in 2014. So I am not a pro at makeup. But I am a pro at this makeup. And that is from applying it on myself and others over time. I know the products and I know how they work. And that it was matters. There are so many other women in this business that come from non-makeup backgrounds and are killing it!
What I Have Learned From Being A Maskcara Beauty Artist for One Year | It's Supportive
After being involved with another Direct Sales company where distributors were always competing with each other, it was so refreshing to be a part of something that was a community. This is really a sisterhood of artists who are always trying to help each other. We all have our own customers, so we aren't trying to constantly steal them away from each other. I am a part of several Maskcara Beauty Facebook groups and I see women helping each other daily. I do it to. We want to help each other.
We are all good at something and we share those talents. Some women are photographers and share new images for everyone to use each week. Others are great at matching colors to skin tones and they teach others how to do it too. We are literally all in this together and we do everything to help each other. There are constantly new trainings and videos on how to succeed. Everyone wants everyone else to do well.
