Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe to Spring | Transitioning Between Seasons

Last year, I shared a post Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall, which you all loved! Since spring is just around the corner, I thought I would do the same thing for transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring. I am doing my best to utilize what I have in my closet and only replace items with pieces that will last and I will wear for years. Utilizing what you have to do these weird seasonal transitions is actually a lot easier than you think. In this post, I will give you some ideas on how to do it.

I have rounded up a bunch of items at the bottom of this post that would be good to add to your close to wear in now, when it's warmer and even in the fall. I am also sharing some more outfit ideas on my Instagram stories!

Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe to Spring | Add White

When in doubt, add white. That old rule of only wearing white between Memorial Day and Labor Day is long gone but white can still be a great way to brighten up a winter outfit to make it look more like spring.

This can be done with white pants/jeans, a purse, a top or even a jacket. White is a great neutral that can be added to pretty much any outfit. I added a lot of white to the outfit in this post. Even though I am wearing a turtleneck and a sweater blazer, I look like I am wearing something brighter and fresher than if I was wearing darker colors. And these were all items I already had in my closet!

Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe to Spring | Layer, Layer, Layer

When it's that weird in between seasons, you never know what the weather is going to be like. So adding multiple layers to an outfit is a great way to ensure you won't be cold, but you won't overheat either.

The best way to do this is with lighter base layers and heavier top layers. This will keep you from overheating when it warms up. But you want good solid, base layers. When I say solid, I mean good quality, not pattern. I am clearly wearing a striped shirt in today's post! You want a base layer that will last multiple washes and will look good no matter what. I have linked some good ones at the bottom of this post!

Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe to Spring | Have A Good Jacket

In line with layering, you want a good jacket. One that you can wear over any outfit and will always look good. I found a maxi trench coat last year that I love. I hunted and hunted until I found the piece I loved, and I did. I wear it all the time. I love that it is long enough to wear with a dress but I can also wear it with jeans and it doesn't look weird.

I have linked a bunch of jackets at the bottom of this post. When you are looking for a good jacket, you want to make sure it has enough room for you to layer under it. It should have enough structure to it that you can wear it alone over a basic top.
