Toddler Friendly Christmas Centerpiece | Decorating With A Toddler

I polled my Instagram audience to see if they would be interested in how to create a toddler friendly Christmas centerpiece. The answer there was a resounding yes. I did share how to create a toddler friendly fall centerpiece in September and you all loved that! So today I am sharing the centerpiece I did on our kitchen island that can be used through the entire winter, not just for Christmas.

As I have talked about before, decorating with a toddler, especially Jackie, can be challenging. I like to have something on our island for each season because we don't have a mantel and you can see the island from most of our apartment. I wanted something fun that Jackie could play with but also reflected my style and I would enjoy seeing every day. I have linked the items I used in our centerpiece at the bottom of this post. If there is something that's older that I couldn't find a direct for, I found something similar. I also linked some other options similar to the ones I used in case they sell out or you want some other color options.

Toddler Friendly Christmas Centerpiece | Trees

Bottle brush trees are so easy to find this year! I feel like the last 5 or so years, they have been very popular. You can find them in the Dollar Spot at Target, with the regular Christmas decor at Target, Walmart, the Dollar Store, on Etsy and pretty much everywhere else. I love how there are lots of different colors to choose from because I don't love red or green in my decorations. You will see this later, but I don't even have a green Christmas tree. So using rose gold, silver, white and pink trees was so much more my style. The best way to add these kinds of trees to your centerpiece is by getting lots of sizes. When you have multiple sizes, you create texture and layering within the centerpiece.

There are also a lot of faux tree options that can add more texture and layering to your centerpiece. I liked this tree for it's flocked look and because it lights up. I bought the smaller version of this tree so it didn't overpower the space or the rest of the centerpiece.

Toddler Friendly Christmas Centerpiece | Figurines

Figurines add so much texture and layers to a centerpiece. When you are creating a toddler friendly centerpiece, you want to use figurines that aren't going to break and can withstand being thrown or banged down on the table. I found the cutest pieces at Target that I felt like are going to last at least a few years. Gnomes are very popular this year and these are an easy way to add figurines to your centerpiece. You can usually find lots of different sized gnomes so adding several sizes will make things a little more fun. I liked finding ones that were different colors as well so that the centerpiece wasn't uniform.

I found the cutest little wood houses in the Dollar Spot at Target. They were only $3 and there were 3 different styles. I only bought two and I regret not getting a third. These are perfect for the centerpiece because they can be beaten up and I'm not overly attached to them. I did add Jackie's stacking snowman to the centerpiece so she could have something she loved to play with at the counter.

Toddler Friendly Christmas Centerpiece | Garlands

Finding a garland for this centerpiece was a little harder. I wanted a garland that tied the entire centerpiece together without being too bright or distracting. I loved the jute/burlap garland that I found. It just brought all of the other pieces together.

Paris did find the cutest snowman garland at HomeGoods that I decided to add to the centerpiece. There were only 8 snowmen on garland so it wouldn't have worked at the thing to tie everything else together, but it did add some more texture to the centerpiece. It also added some more subtle color.
