Things I Love About Living in Argentina

There are many things I LOVE about Buenos Aires, but three things in particular stand out especially when I compare them to their counterparts at home.

Things I Love about Living in Argentina | The Playgrounds

We have been able to explore a LOT of playgrounds and there are multiple things about the playgrounds that I love. They are everywhere and easily accessible which is awesome. They're in random medians, walking up the street, right by a train station and at major tourist attractions. Most are completely fenced in and if they're not fenced directly around the playground, there's a fence around the larger play area. Kids are not able to get to the street from the playground, which is huge for me! My children tend to run to the street, so knowing that every playground we go to is going to be safe and enclosed is really big for me.

I have also been so impressed by the number of accessible playgrounds. Not every single playground is going to be accessible for all ages and all physical abilities. However, we have found so many playgrounds are accessible for all ages and abilities. I can't tell you the number of swings made for wheelchairs I have seen here, which is something I've never seen in the U. S.

Things I Love about Living in Argentina | Gluten Free Food

The gluten free experience here is next level. Here in Argentina, gluten free is called cintac, and you see things labeled as cintac all the time, it's everywhere! Not only that, but there are dedicated gluten free bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores. I haven't had real pastries in over 10 years. When I saw the amazing gluten free pastry options here for the first time, I actually teared up when I had the first pastry. It was incredible!

So many restaurants we have been to here in Buenos Aires have dedicated sections of their menu that are gluten free. You are definitely going to get a great gluten free experience when you come to Buenos Aires. I have been incredibly impressed and going home is going to be awful. I've gotten used to a standard of living when it comes to gluten free while living here and we just don't live up to it at home!

Things I Love about Living in Argentina | Public Transit

There are multiple different kinds of trains and buses everywhere. There are taxis, Ubers and Lyfts, but they are much more affordable than in the states and you rarely need to take them anyways. The public transit is really affordable as well. We have had really good experiences on the trains and on the buses. Yes, they're a little bit more narrow and therefore didn't fit our stroller, but we've really loved our experiences with the trains. In general, I can get places on my own with the kids really easily.

I haven't quite mastered the buses yet. It's a little bit more complicated than I was anticipating and you have to know what you're doing, where you're getting on, where you're getting off and tell the bus driver that. Then you have to push the button on the bus when it's time for you to get off so I heavily rely on my husband for that one. Fingers crossed that before we leave in December, I'll have mastered it! While we do have some public transit in the US, it is mainly in the major cities and even those aren't great.

So far our experience in Argentina has been great and we are so exited to continue to find more things we love about living here!
