New Home Binders

Last year, I released The Home Binder download, which gives an outline and sections on how to create your own home binder. For those of you not familiar with the Home Binder, this tool gives you a place to put all of the information you need about your home. It includes your floor plan, flooring details, light fixtures, appliances, etc. That way, whenever you need to go back to reference, fix, or update something, you have all that information in one place. It's also a really great thing to pass on to the next owner of your house. After a lot of feedback, I have now created three additional binders based off of the Home Binder. We have the Home Binder Volume 2, the Apartment Binder, and the Life Binder Volume 2. Let me give you a quick run-down on each of the new binders.

New Home Binders | The Apartment Binder

First, let's talk about the Apartment Binder. This was the most requested thing after I created the original Home Binder download. So many people wanted an apartment friendly version of that. The apartment binder is smaller than the home binder because you don't need as much information in an apartment.  However, you're going to have all of the information you need like amenity information, people to contact, a record of any changes you've made to your unit, maintenance requests along with a place to keep all of the appliance manuals and a copy of your lease.

New Home Binders | The Home Binder Vol. 2

The Home Binder Vol. 2 can be a standalone or something you use in conjunction with either the Apartment Binder or Volume 1 of the Home Binder. Volume 2 of the Home Binder is a place you can keep track of all of the things you use and add onto your home, whether you buy or rent. For me, the biggest difference between Volume 2 versus Volume 1 or the Apartment Binder, is the information in Volume 1 and the Apartment Binder is everything that is going to stay in the home regardless of if you live there or not. If you were to walk away from the space and give the binder to the next resident, all of the stuff that's in that binder is also in the house. In contrast, Volume 2 is everything you will take with you when you move.

I know there are going to be a lot of people that wonder why you need to keep all of the hard copies of manuals when you can just get them online. While it is true that you can find most manuals online, there are people like me who like to have hard copies of stuff. I like to know that I can easily pull this binder out and find exactly what I'm looking for instead of having to scour the internet for it. If you're really against the hard copy idea, though, you also have the ability to use the structure that I've given you in this download and create a digital version of this in folders on your computer.

New Home Binders | The Life Binder

The last new binder is the Life Binder. If you've been around for a little while, you'll probably recognize this from my home organization series that I did a few years ago. This is how I keep track of all the important documents in our life that don't correlate to appliances, toys, etc. The binder includes spots for medical information, documents from our HOA, information from our mortgage, health insurance, home insurance, car insurance, car information, etc. The download has all of the sections you're going to need as well as a few extra you may or may not need like lease instead of mortgage, and other information you can use to make it customizable to you. These binders are really a life saver as far as organizing your home and life in an easily accessible way! You can find them in the download shop.
