Minnie Mouse Rice Crispy Treat DIY | Inspiration

I asked in my Instagram Stories if you all would be interested in how I made these rice cripsy treats for Jackie's birthday party and the response was a resounding yes! So before I start, I want to explain where the idea came from. I had a Mickey Mouse Rice Crispy treat in Disney Land a few years ago and I thought it was such a brilliant idea. We had a Minnie Mouse one in Disney World when we were there in January so I thought that it would be really fun to make them for Jackie's party. While I am by no means a chef or a baker, I thought it would be pretty easy to pull off.

I did do a test run of these about a month in advance. There were some problems we encountered that we then sorted out while making the treats for the party. I will explain them below!

Minnie Mouse Rice Crispy Treat DIY | What You Will Need

First of all, you are going to need a Mickey Mouse shapped cookie cutter! Paris had two Mickey Mouse shapped pancacke forms and those worked perfectly. I do love this set because you have the option of the bow as well. We did discover that using two at the same time made for a much faster experience. Secondly, we made 25 treats using the ingredients that I list below. Here are the rest of the things you will need:

Aluminum Pan

Wax Paper

Cooking Spray

Rice Krispies - 2 boxes

Marshmallows - 3 bags

Butter

Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate Chips - 2 bags

Milk Chocolate Making Chocolate Chips - 2 bags

Pink M&Ms - optional

Red M&Ms - optional

Cellophane Treat bags - 24

Pink Ribbon

Minnie Mouse Rice Crispy Treat DIY | How To Make Them

  1. Make the rice crispy treats by following the instructions on the back of the box. I found that if you make 1-2 batches at a time, you are less likely to burn anything!
  2. While they are cooking, be sure to line some cookie sheets with the wax paper
  3. Spray your hands with cooking spray before removing rice crispies from the bowl
  4. Press the rice crispy treats in the aluminum pan. Before they have a chance to cool, start to press the rice crispies into the cookie cutters. This is much easier than cutting into the rice crispies with the cookie cutter. Make sure that the cookie cutter is densly packed. Otherwise, your shapes will not hold!
  5. Place formed Minnie Mouse heads onto the wax paper covered cookie sheets & let them set. I did this overnight. I covered the pans with aluminum foil to make sure they didn't go bad.
  6. After the treats have set, melt the chocolate. I had a mixture of dark chocolate and milk chocolate lovers so I did half and half for the treats. Using 30 second intervals, melt the chocolate in a bowl. Be sure to stir the chocolate every 30 seconds.
  7. Dip the treats into the chocolate. I used a spoon to make sure every part of the treat I wanted covered was totally covered. This was much easier than just trying to dip them into the bowl
  8. Place them back on the wax covered cookie sheets to set.
  9. If you wish, use the pink and red M&Ms to decorate your treats. I used the pink ones on the dark chocolate treats and the red ones on the milk chocolate treats.
  10. Cover with aluminum foil and let set over night
  11. Once they have set and the chocolate has hardened, put into cellophane bags and tie off with ribbon!
  12. ENJOY!
