Marriott Wardman Park

Photo Nov 11, 8 23 15 PMI'm sorry in advance, the quality of these pictures are not the best. It rained the entire time we were in DC and I took these pictures with my phone!Earlier this week we went into DC for a conference. While we didn't stay at the hotel where it was held, the Marriott Wardman Park, I still did some exploring. The main part of the hotel is very much like most buildings in DC. Built in the 1960s or 1970s, its dated. However if you do some walking, and I mean a lot the hotel is huge, you will find the Wardman Tower. This part of the hotel has clearly been redone recently and if see the outside of the building you will see it is still receiving a face lift. The lobby of this part of the hotel is beautiful. I love the neutral colors with pops of light blue and pink. There are some very old pieces in this space, including the grandfather clock and writing desk. There are also mirrors everywhere, which made taking pictures all sorts of entertaining!I did discover a really interesting piece of history about this part of the hotel. Considering this is DC, there was a good chance that there would be a part of the hotel that was historical. It turns out, the original Wardman Park hotel was where Langston Hughes was discovered, working as a busboy! There is a plaque hanging on the wall in this lobby outlining the story. I love finding little gems like this when I am in town!Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing Through Marriott Wardman Park | Breezing ThroughBreezing Through Blog
