Favorite Shops to Buy Sensory Kits | Why Sensory Kits

Sensory kits have so many benefits, even if your child doesn’t have sensory needs. They are great for speech and social development and are just fun in general!

We have been using sensory kits for several years now and love them. From water beads, sand, rice, to play dough, there are lots of different kinds of sensory kits out there that you can find to fit your child’s needs or interests.

Favorite Shops to Buy Sensory Kits | Making Your Own Vs Buying

On Monday, I talked about how to make your own quick sensory kits. These are fun and easy to change up based on what your child likes at the moment. Based on your budget, you may want to make your own sensory kits to save some money. If you don’t want to put in the work to make a sensory kit, I’m right there with you! You can buy a pre-made one instead.

I have enjoyed making sensory kits in the past but I have also found a few places that I really like where you can buy already made sensory kits. This takes the labor out of the project, they are easily gifted and you are also supporting small businesses!

Favorite Shops to Buy Sensory Kits | Young, Wild + Friedman

Julie Friedman starting making sensory kits after her daughter’s doctor suggested it. She turned a sensory activity for her daughter into a pretty big production! She has expanded her inventory to include:

Mini playdough kits

Full size playdough & sensory kits

Subscription Kits

For Jackie’s birthday this year, my mom got her a subscription to their monthly play dough sensory kit. It’s been really fun to get a new kit every month. By the time a new one comes, Jackie is bored with the last one which makes it even more exciting! I will say these come with LOTS of little pieces that you will find all over your home for months. But, Jackie plays with these for hours so it is worth it.

You can buy one-off large kits and even smaller kits. My mom got Jackie one of the small kits when we flew to Mexico earlier this year and it was the perfect plane toy. The smaller kits don’t have as many parts and the home made dough isn’t messy at all.

Speaking of the dough, I’ve never encountered dough like this before! We have left the dough outside of the container for days at a time (definitely not recommended but it happens) and it stays soft and playable for up to three days! Regular play dough can’t even be out for 12 hours, let alone an entire day!

I love how creative Julie is with these kits, she always comes up with really fun and new ideas. She usually has gift sets you can get for your child’s class too!

Favorite Shops to Buy Sensory Kits | Doughsie Dough

Doughsie Dough introduced us to sensory doughs, so they will always hold a special place in our hearts. Mary Eden and Annie, the founders of Doughsie Dough, originally started the company with the intention to grow and develop the creativity and imaginations of their children. Their collections include:

Dough

Mini Kits

On-the-go Kits

Rolling pins

They have great dough and its non toxic. I’ve never had to worry about Jackie putting things in her mouth, but I know many littles explore the world by putting everything in their mouths, so having that piece of mind is definitely a plus. In contrast to Young, Wild and Friedman, these kits tend to have larger pieces and the use of rolling pins and cookie cutters is encouraged! There are kits themed for every kid’s interest from army to safari to unicorn and more. They also have adorable holiday themed kits as well as the ability to use them in bulk for birthday parties!

We love our sensory kits and love sharing them with our friends. If you’re looking for great gifts that are always a hit (and always keep kids entertained), grab one from either one of these great businesses. I promise you won’t regret it!
