DIY Builds and Their Downloads

I've built quite a few things in the last few years, and I actually have build plans for a lot of them! So, I wanted to show you my process when I'm building a project and then go over the downloads for them.

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | Built-in Bookshelves with Bench

So first up are the shelves that I built from my daughter's bedroom. I found a set of shelves from Pottery Barn that I really liked that had a bench on the bottom and then shelves on top, but I did not wanna spend as much as Pottery Barn was selling them for, so instead I built one! it. This also has a bench with cubbies underneath. I did not put drawers or fronts on these because I wanted to be able to pull baskets in and out of them easily. Then, I built shelves for books and toys. I definitely could have had them go all the way to the ceiling, but I ran out of scrap wood while building them, so I kept them tall, but not all the way to the ceiling. I finished them off by painting them pink, which is her favorite color, and we absolutely love these.

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | Laundry Basket Tower

The next build plan that I have on my site is the laundry basket tower. This is built to fit pretty much any standard laundry basket. I got my laundry baskets from Target and then customized it to fit those laundry baskets. I've looked at a lot of under other laundry basket measurements and most would fit too. I actually built this for our laundry room and I attached it to a shelf that came down from the ceiling. When the laundry baskets are all in I can easily sort laundry and know what's clean and what's dirty making it easy to keep the laundry going. It is so awesome and has made SUCH a difference with my laundry game. I absolutely love it!

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | Small Desk with Monitor Ledge

The next build plan is the desk that I built for my husband. I decided that the little white desk that we had in our bedroom for roughly 10 years just was not cutting it anymore. I wanted something that was going to look better with all of the other natural wood that I had in our bedroom, and had cleaner lines. So I made him a custom desk with a monitor stand on it since he was trying to find a way to stand his monitors up. I built a desk frame, and then I used really nice scrap wood that I had from a different project, added the monitor stand. I attached the desktop to the frame, and put it in our room. I then attached the whole desk to the wall to make sure it didn't tip with the weight of my husbands monitors. I love how well it goes with our bedroom space now.

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | Mobile Workbench

The next plan is the mobile workbench. I built these two really big workbenches roughly a year and a half ago to store all of my DIY stuff, while also being able to move stuff around and cut on top of the workbench. Well, the biggest workbench was too big and was breaking the frame. So I needed to come up with a different way to be able to still have the surface to cut and work on that I wanted, but not have the bulk of these drawers and shelves. So I built a workbench that would slide over top of that workbench. That was much more lightweight. I used four by fours for the sides and the framing. Then I used pegboard to attach tools to the sides as well. This workbench revamp has held up so much better than my original plan and I'm so happy with it.

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | Play Table and Benches

A kid-centered download I have available is the benches and table that I built for my daughter for her play kitchen area. I absolutely love this project. It's one of my favorites that I've ever done. I did this custom based on the things she wanted, and I actually originally did the table as an experiment because I was going to build a kitchen table for our house in this same way, like with the same method. I ended up not building the full size table since I went with something else, but it was still a really great experience and I learned a lot from it. This project taught me how to use a planer, which side note is not at all necessary for this project. I was using this project it to try and build a new skill, so it was a definite success!

DIY Builds and Their Downloads | House Bed

I saved my most recognizable project for last. If you have been around at all or seen some of my videos, you may have seen the house bed that designed and built for my daughter. This comes apart into five pieces, so it's easily moveable is pretty awesome. It fits a twin size bed. I have had requests for larger ones as well, so I may be doing that in the future! If you're interested in this or any of the other downloads you can find them on the shop. They come with everything you need to build them, including step-by-step videos, and they're only $5. I promise you won't be disappointed!
