A Day Trip from Buenos Aires to Tigre

Let's take a day trip from Buenos Aires to Tigre! You can drive to Tigre from Buenos Aires, but you can also take the Mitre, it's about a 45 minute train ride. We arrived at the Tigre station and then took a short 15 minute walk to Puerto de Frutos. The walk is along the river with a beautiful view of the town and some of the really great things that Tigre has to offer.

When you're here, you definitely know that you're in Puerto de Frutos because there are signs everywhere! Signs pointed us exactly where to go, where to enter, and where to exit. There were, however, several entrances and exits, so we had to keep an eye out for that. When we officially got there, we did a little shopping and then found a boat to take us on a tour of the island.

The cost ended up being about 14,000 pesos per person, which is a little bit less than 14 USD a person. It was an hour and a half long tour on a catamaran. The top was open and gated in, and then the bottom was enclosed. We decided to stay in the bottom. The windows were open, so we still had a nice breeze, but this gave the kids a really nice, easy place to run around and we could still see out the windows and hear what they were talking about on the tour.

The boat also had food and drinks for purchase, with a bathroom which was really nice to have on a longer trip, especially with kids. Our boat tour had a lot of really great information about the islands and about the history behind this area, so that was really fun. We basically just went in a really big loop around the islands, stayed in the main waterways and then headed back to Puerta de Frutos. After getting off the boat we ate lunch at Lo de Negri, which was right across the street from where our boat was. And I cannot tell you how amazing this food was. The steak was unreal!

We did a little bit more shopping and then headed back to the Tigre Mitre station to get home to Buenos Aires. We genuinely loved this trip. It was an easy, affordable and beautiful day trip to do with the whole family.
