A Day in the Life in Argentina

Let's talk a day in the life here in Argentina. My seven year old autistic daughter was up from 3:00-5:45 AM so I'm exhausted. My husband left for work around 7 and the baby woke up 45 minutes later so we have to rally and get the day rolling!

A Day in the Life in Argentina | Starting the Day Off Right

Today is Tuesday, the day the cleaners come. We never have an exact time when they will be here, it can be anywhere from 10-3 or 10-6 depending on the day. I kind of just have to be ready for them to be here or turn them away if the baby's napping since we DON'T mess with nap time around here! My daughter and the baby normally get up at the same time, but since she was up for several hours in the middle of the night, she is still asleep. First thing, I got started on breakfast for me and the baby. We like to have eggs, but I have discovered he really likes if I add leftover fries and steak to them, which we luckily have quite often here. While those are heating up in a skillet, I did some of the dishes I had left in the sink. I decided when we got here that leaving dishes in the sink over night and washing them in the morning when I'm doing other things in the kitchen is just better for me and my ADHD. I don't care about going to sleep with a clean kitchen.

Once everything in the pan is heated up, I add around 3 eggs and cook them over easy. The baby really seems to like it this way. I make sure to add lots of seasoning before plating because, funny enough, the baby will not eat anything without seasoning, especially salt and pepper. He spits them right out and gives them back! After we are done eating, I do another round of dishes. We don't have a dishwasher here, so I hand wash everything. Luckily, most of our meals are takeout or we eat in restaurants so I don't have to do a ton of dishes.

Next, I start getting ready for the day. I always have little shadow following me around trying to "help" me get dressed or do my makeup. My makeup routine is pretty simple and it's basically the same routine I've been doing for the last 10-ish years. I got a new foundation when we got here, which was intentional because I knew I was going to run out of foundation before we left home and I wanted to try something Argentinian.  I'm using a Givenchy foundation and I really like it. It has really good coverage and blends well with the rest of my makeup. I keep my makeup pretty minimal except for the shimmer or glitter I add to make my eyes pop a little bit.

A Day in the Life in Argentina | Lunch to Bedtime

On Tuesdays, I try to get out of the apartment in the mornings so we are out of the way for when the cleaning people come. Today I asked for the cleaning people to come in the morning before the baby's nap so we didn't have any conflicts like we have had the last couple of weeks. I like to go and find new places I think the kids will like so today we headed to a new playground I found on Google Maps.

The park was near Plaza Alberti which is about a 30 minute walk for us. We've been to other playgrounds that are much more exciting and a lot cooler, but it did the job for the day. After about 40 minutes, we headed home. When we got there the cleaning people were still there so we went and got lunch at Celigourmet, which is a place that has gluten free meals, treats and other stuff you can take home. We made it back home and I put the baby down for his nap. Then, I started on my lunch.

I got an orange cake at Celigourmet as well as a slice of chocolate torta, and chicken skewers with potato wedges. I saved some of the chicken skewer and potato wedges for the baby to eat when he got up. I then made my daughter some regular chicken nuggets and ketchup for lunch. After we finished eating, my daughter and I did a YouTube dance/sing off that she likes to do. We like to spend some one on one time together right when the baby starts napping. We used this time to do some homeschool for her as well.

Then I got some work done. I have a bunch of stuff that I'm working on including; new digital downloads, build plans for future projects, reviewing the new stuff my mom is doing in her yard to get a revamped treehouse plan and organizing trips we're going to go on for the remaining three months we are here while also researching more fun things to do with the kids in Buenos Aires. I also use this time to edit videos and work on audios for videos.

My husband's job provides him with a very generous per diem so we have plenty of funds to purchase food and transportation. Because of that, we are able to order lunch and dinner most days. Other than the steak and egg breakfast I make every morning for me and the baby, I haven't cooked since we got here, and won't until we leave, which has been a nice break. It will be quite the adjustment to go back to cooking when we go home!

The baby went hard at the park and wore himself out, so he took a very long nap. I actually had to wake him up just before 5:00 to make sure he would go to bed tonight. My husband got home pretty soon after that so we ordered dinner from one of our favorite places, Campo Bravo. It's a steakhouse here in Argentina that is fully gluten free, which I absolutely love.

Then it’s bedtime for the kids. I usually help my daughter fall asleep at night after she's played alone in her room for a little bit. Once both of the kids are asleep, I take a shower to wash the day off. I put my hair up and out of the way and I took off my makeup then do a simple cleanser.

Once I'm out of the shower, I put my hair in a heatless curl wrap so I wake up with a nice blowout. Then I complete my simple nighttime skin routine which is just a moisturizer and toner and its time for bed and that's the day!

Like I said before, I am pretty regimented with routines because they keep me sane. I'll definitely miss this rhythm we've gotten into when we head home.
