Vienna

Vienna, Austria | Breezing Through

We arrived in Vienna at 9:10 on Friday January 29. Our Black Lane driver picked us up at the airport and took us the Renaissance Imperial Riding School Hotel. This was my first time in Vienna in a long time. My dad was so excited to show me around. My dad was born in Vienna. His dad was a US diplomat and that is where they were living at the time. My dad goes back to Vienna at least once a year, but usually twice. He has created this awesome map for you all of all the best things to do and best places to eat in the city!

We spent the majority of the day exploring the city. We had a meeting at 2 pm at the Vienna International Center. After that we went back out into the city to find dinner. We found out that a good chunk of the 1st district was closing that night due to a demonstration that was happening, protesting a ball held in the Hofburg palace. Apparently last year the there were 5,000 demonstrators that caused 1 million worth of damage. So the police were out and ready for it. The major stores were closed and some even covered their windows with wood or paper to cover up their products.

Café Central was open, so we had dinner there. They were great about my wheat allergy. They made me something off the menu, grilled pork & mashed potatoes. The hot chocolate was incredible too!

We wandered around some more, did some shopping and stopped at the Café Oberla for more hot chocolate and their gluten free cake, because when you are in Austria, you have to have cake!

The next day, we got up early and wandered around a little more. We headed to the Nacht Makt and went into the Imperial Hotel. Find out more about that and the pictures on Friday! Thanks for reading.
