UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

After we had settled into our hotel, we got ready for all of our meetings we had that week. One of the meetings was a tour of the city. We were shown all around Abu Dhabi, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Th mosque sits just across the street from The Ritz-Carlton and can be walked to in the winter months.UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing ThroughThe Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was commissioned by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in the 1990s and was completed in 2007, after his death. The late Sheikh Zayed wanted the mosque to not only be a place of worship but also a place of learning. This is why it is open to visitors from all over the world. When entering a mosque, you should always dress appropriately. Women should wear clothes that cover their arms and legs and should have their heads covered. Men should wear long pants. When I first went to the mosque, they were providing abayas for women who did not have the proper attire. This is not something they do anymore so be sure you are prepared if you are going! UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing ThroughYou are allowed to take pictures in the mosque and if you are going, take your camera! The effort that was put into the mosque is breathtaking. There are details all throughout the mosque, some of which I did not notice on my first trip.UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing Through UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing Through UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing Through UAE: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi-Breezing Through I did go back to the mosque two more times during later trips to Abu Dhabi.
