Thoughts on Turning 28 | My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, in case you missed that! I usually like to keep my birthday pretty low key. Maybe go out to dinner and spend it with the people I love. Yesterday we took Jackie to a local restaurant and she was so good! We got through an entire meal without having to pull out a phone or go out for a walk. Between that and Jackie sleeping in and having a great swim class, I have to call that a good birthday! The Husband and I share a birthday week so we do end up celebrating both birthdays together. We have plans for a date night this weekend while my brother and sister in law watch Jackie.

Thoughts on Turning 28 | A New Year

I like to mark a new year at my birthday, not in January. It makes a lot more sense to me. I like to reflect on the previous few years and think about the coming year. A lot has happened in the last few years. We have added Jackie to our family, we moved, I had my hip surgery, we moved again. Work has changed and there have been promotions. Things have come together for an exciting next few years, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

As I get closer to 30, I am realizing which things matter and which things don't. I have always loved structure and a schedule. God thought that was funny and sent me Jackie. I am learning that I have to be more flexible and go with the flow, even if I don't want to. It is not something that comes easily to me, but I am working on it!

I am trying to take more time to live in the moment. To go out and do things that I may not usually do but are going to be fun anyway. I am trying to do hard things. Things that make me uncomfortable but will help me grow as a person. I'll let you know next year how that is going!
