Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall
Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | That Weird Time Between Seasons
We all know about that weird time between seasons, especially between summer and fall. It isn't cold enough to wear all your fall clothes and but it isn't warm enough to stay in your summer clothes. So you have to transition between the two. But how do you do that with the clothes you already have in your closet? Today, I want to talk about transitioning your summer wardrobe to fall. For me, I am going to just be focusing on dresses. I can't really wear pants right now due to the screws that are sticking out of my right hip, so dresses are the most comfortable.
I took clothes that I already had in my closet and worked them to be different outfits that I will wear into fall and are my style. I am going to walk you through each style and why I did this specifically. I am also sharing videos on my Instagram stories of how everything fits and why I love it.

Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | Cardigan, Booties & A Hat
This is probably the easiest way to take a summer outfit and turn it into a fall outfit. Adding a cardigan, booties and a hat to most dresses will make it perfect for those cool summer evenings and and warm fall afternoons. When you have lots of layers, you can take them on and off depending on what the temperature is doing.
I have a few hats that I love from Nordstrom and a few other boutiques. Finding a good hat that is perfect for these transitioning days doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money. There are plenty of good ones from Target and Amazon that are much cheaper than the ones I have bought.

Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | Over The Knee Boots
This is one of my favorite ways to transition from summer to fall. A shorter dress that hits above the knees pairs perfectly with over the knee boots. This covers up your legs and gives you so more warmth without getting too warm. When I am wearing over the knee boots, I usually wear knee high socks. They don't have to be thick, especially when I am wearing them in the late summer & early fall.

Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | Add A Poncho
Adding a poncho and booties to a body con dress is an easy way to add a few layers that also will keep you warm enough while also not overheating you. I bought this poncho from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a few years ago and I have loved it. I have linked some less expensive ponchos below along with ones similar to mine!

Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | Mom Uniform
This is probably what most of my outfits will look like. I am usually chasing Jackie around while juggling work and everything else going on so being comfy is at the top of my list. A dress with a cardigan and sneakers is an easy way to do this. When I am wearing this kind of outfit, I tend to wear longer jewelry that compliments the long lines of the cardigan and the dress.

Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe to Fall | Rainy Days
Of course there are days, especially here in Virginia, when it will rain. So what are you going to wear on those days? For me, I will add a rain coat or trench coat to a dress along with shorter rain boots. I wore this outfit in the spring as well and I love it!
