Traveling While Pregnant
Top//Sweater//Jeans//Shoes//Hat (old, similar)
This is my go to outfit right now. I am talking more about these shoes soon and I seriously wear them all of the time. I am not usually a fan of jeans but I am in love with these maternity jeans from H&M. I wish their regular jeans were like this! I probably have been wearing these jeans too much, they are just so comfy!
I have now traveled several times during this pregnancy, always in the first and second trimester. I have done both road trips and traveled by airline. I wanted to share with you what I learned about staying comfortable while traveling.
Pack Snacks
I can't stress this enough, especially when it comes to flying. You don't know how things are going to play out during a layover so you want to make sure you always have something in your bag that you can snack on. Being hungry and pregnant while traveling are never a good combination.
Bring Heating Pads
This was a life saver. Luckily on our road trips I was in cars that had heated seats so I didn't have to pack heating pads. But when flying, having heating pads was amazing. Especially on a plane, it is hard to find a comfy position where your back or hips won't hurt. Heating pads help a lot with the discomfort.
Give Yourself Plenty of Time If You Have A Connection
If you are flying and you are in control of your flights, try to book longer layovers. Preferably over an hour. This will give you plenty of time for a bathroom break, find something to eat and get your blood flowing.
Wear Comfy Clothes
I cannot stress this enough. I know everyone wants to look cute when they travel, I am usually a big proponent of that. But you need to be comfortable when you are pregnant. Don't wear anything too tight, and be sure it is breathable.
Wear The Right Shoes
You are going to be moving around a lot. You need comfy shoes. There are so many cute sneakers out there right now, you don't have an excuse to wear non comfy shoes.
Move Around A Lot
Any doctor will tell you this. You have to move around. Not moving can cause blood clots and that is just scary. Move around every 2 hours when possible, even if you are just walking in circles.
