The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island

The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is as elegant as it is family friendly. The property is expansive and perfect for large conference functions.Many of our meals were held in this seaside tent. We ate breakfast daily here as well as lunch. We also had a dinner with a live band here one evening.The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is located ocean-front with walkways that allow viewing exploration of the Florida Dunes. It is illegal to walk on the Florida Dunes as great pains are being made to preserve the wildlife that inhabit the dunes -- some of which are endangered species. It is great fun to see the lovely dunes and its inhabitants while walking to and from the beach.With the beautiful flowering plant life. (These white flowering vines only flower in daylight. They disappear in the evenings.)The yellow daisies are some of Emily's favorite flowers.And the wildlife we were able to enjoy walking to and from the beach. We saw tortoises large and small that are endangered and also rabbits.The pictures (below) are of the wildlife we saw walking to and from breakfast on Saturday morning. These are some of the stuffed turtles in the Ritz gift shop.On the one day I was able to really enjoy the beach it happened to be low tide and there were wonderful sea treasures.A sand dollar washed up at my feet. Then I found a conk shell in the sand.I do have a bit of a weakness for beautiful shells and there are plenty of them at the beach in front of the Ritz Carlton. The ocean seems to wash them up special for the guests staying at the hotel.But if shell searching is not your thing, the Ritz Carlton does have a full spa.And plenty of shopping ...The Salt Shop offers a variety of unusual gifts. The Ritz shop is where to find gifts for kids as well as sundries and other treasurers.Then there are men's clothing and jewelry and women's clothing and jewelry stores lining the corridors. So much to see -- so little time. I didn't even go down here until Saturday morning and it was just too late to shop. Time to catch our flight home. Too bad. We will just have to go back...
