I feel like it's been awhile since I covered a sale on here! I know there have been a lot during this pandemic as companies try to stay afloat. I was really excited to see that while the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was delayed, it was still happening.

Like I said, a lot of companies, including Nordstrom, have been doing major sales over the last six months, so you may be wondering why you should care about this sale, especially this year. Honestly, I think if you are looking for specific items, this sale is great. If you are just browsing, you may want to skip it this year. But there will be some great deals on usually expensive items! This sale is different because instead of discounting current or last season items, it is for Fall and Winter items (with some wear now styles sprinkled in).

So when can you start shopping the sale!? If you are a Nordy Club member, you will have early access based on your status. Obviously, the higher your status, the earlier you can shop. Most people are Insiders, but you will start seeing posts from Icons on social media starting August 4. Personally, I am an Insider, so I will have access starting August 13! I have included a roundup of the shopping dates below so you can see exactly when your access starts.

You can shop the sale in open stores during normal business hours. Online shopping begins at 9:30am ET/6:30am PT.

Now that you know why you should care about the sale and what the dates are, I want to share some tips on shopping the sale. The average person isn't going to have Influencer Status or above to get super early access to the sale, I am only an Insider myself. So that means a lot of items are going to be shopped before the sale opens to the public. However, this year is unique. Many stores aren't open and even the ones that are will likely experience a smaller group of in person shoppers. Meaning, people will shop online, get their items, try them on, and return what they don't want.

This happens every year anyway but this will be much more prevalent this year. So the likelihood of an item you want being out of stock and then being restocked in just a few days, is pretty high. My point is, be patient. If you are worried about an item selling out, by it first. Shipping is free! If an item you want does go out of stock, keep an eye on it. It very likely come back before the sale ends!

My coverage of the sale is going to look a little different this year than in the past. I usually do a try on session in the store along with a What I Bought post styling some of the items I purchase. However, I no longer live near a Nordstrom! The closest one is two hours away now and while I would probably make a day trip so I could do a try on session, we will be traveling this year during the majority of the time the sale is open to the public. Which also means that I will most likely not be able to get a post done styling the items I bought before the sale ends. Despite this, I will be sharing my picks from the sale and I will share the items I do end up buying. So don't worry about that!

Like last year, I plan on being very intentional about what I buy. We bought a house this year, so I don't want to spend a ton of money on clothes we don't need/won't wear. We do live in a different climate now and Tennessee doesn't have as long of a winter as Virginia does. So this will also be an experiment in what I will actually wear from my fall/winter wardobe!
