4 Things I have learned from Traveling

As I write this post, I am simultaneously packing my suitcase for a trip to LA tomorrow, getting everything together for the exhibition I will be setting up for in LA, packing a few more boxes for our big move next month, making sure my husband has everything he needs for my week away and getting everything ready for a farmers market next weekend. Oh and doing a few work emails!Sometimes I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day- quote from Pride and Prejudice that defines my life.Days like today make me grateful that I have enough experience traveling that I am ready for a lot of things. Not everything, but a lot. There is a lot I have learned from traveling and preparation is only one of them.1) Be prepared for anything. You can pack everything you will ever need for a trip (but it won't all fit in your carry ons) and follow your packing list, but that doesn't mean you will be prepared for anything. Be ready for things to go wrong, things to get lost and for you to have the best time ever!Printable Packing List- Breezing Through2) Be flexible. When things don't go exactly your way, you need to be able to change with the circumstances. This can be incredibly difficult when you are like me and you always want to have a plan. But being flexible allows you to learn new things and find some of the coolest places. A thunderstorm can force you inside but you can also take advantage of the great situation and get some awesome pictures!Florida: Thunderstorm- Breezing Through3) Getting lost is normal and ok. I am all about going to a new city and getting lost without a map. It is the best way to find good food and fun people. If you do get lost on accident, most people are willing to help you get back to where you want to be. Just be careful you don't go anywhere scary with a stranger!Breezing Through4) Be where you are. This is something my dad used to say to me when I was in college and I was dating someone long distance and I wasn't loving any of it. I didn't know what he meant until after that boyfriend and I broke up. Being where you are is about being happy with what you have and getting to know your surroundings. It can be hard but even if you are homesick while traveling, you need to focus on where you are and be sure to enjoy it to the fullest!Breezing Through Blog
