My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires
As our time in Buenos Aires is coming to an end, I wanted to do a comprehensive list of our must go places in Buenos Aires so you know where to go when you visit here too!
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Ecoparque
I know I have talked about Ecoparque a lot, but that's because we have gone there so much and genuinely love it! It's located in Palermo, which is one of the more touristy parts of town. We love it because it's free, it's incredibly family friendly and the animals are incredibly unique. When we had family visiting, we told them we were taking them to the zoo and they were pretty skeptical, because they figured a zoo is a zoo. Once we got there, they were in awe and didn't want to leave. The park also has an incredible playground for kids on the far side of the park, you can stay here for hours and not get bored.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | El Ateneo Grand Slendid
This old theatre has been turned into a bookstore and is SO incredibly gorgeous. It's one of the largest bookstores bookstores in South America and even if you're not going to buy books, you still need to go to experience the beauty.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Jardín Japonés
Jardin Japonés is also located in Palermo on the far side of Ecoparque and it is absolutely stunning. This is maintained by the Japanese government in Buenos Aires. It's a beautiful representation of Japanese culture, architecture, and landscaping. It is very inexpensive and super family friendly. I would definitely recommend going here, you will not regret it.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Palacio Libertad
Palacio Libertad is halfway between Plaza de Mayo and Puerto Madero. Since it's a cultural center, most of the stuff here is free. There's an incredible Juana Azurduy statue out front and really cool exhibits that you can go to. There's just a lot of stuff that you can do here that is completely free and really fun to do and the architecture is stunning.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Plaza de Mayo
Plaza de Mayo is where the Casa Rosada is, as well as other culturally and government significant buildings for the entire country of Argentina. You can do tours of a lot of these buildings and they're really cool to see. This is definitely somewhere to go when you're visiting Buenos Aires. They're very easy to get to on the subte, conveniently the last few stops depending on the line you're using. This is also a really good place to go if you're going to the San Telmo market or i to Puerto Madero after, it is a great stopping point.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Recoleta Cemetery
I've done a completely separate video on this place, but it is so incredible. It's very family friendly and is really easy to let kids wander around, especially if you go earlier in the day. It is so cool to wander around through the cemetery and take in the history. Also there is an incredible market outside on the weekends you won't want to miss.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur
This is an ecological park on the edge of Buenos Aires, right up against the water. It is absolutely stunning and very family friendly. The contrast between the skyrises on Puerto Madero and the conservation reserve is just incredible. Definitely worth going to.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | San Telmo Market
If you're going to go to this market, Sunday is the best day to go since that's when most of the vendors are there. You can go during the week, but it's just not as good. There are also a bunch of smaller markets in this area as well on Sundays so you can hit them all in one spot.
My Must Go To Places in Buenos Aires | Temaikén
This is hands down one of the coolest zoos I've ever been to. The bird area alone, which is the size of some small zoos in the U.S., is incredible. The number of animals and the different areas where you can be close to the animals is unmatched. I would definitely recommend going on a weekday, preferably a day that's kind of cloudy and slightly raining, because they're not going to be as many people there. They also have a lot of food options on site, including gluten free options.
