I am sure by now you have heard about the Kendra Scott Charms collection. When one of my favorite jewelry brands released a collection that allowed you to customize what you were wearing, I was thrilled. Over the last year, I have gathered a number of the charms and bases, creating pieces I can mix and match and that have meaning to me.
A lot of the charms I have bought have zero meaning to me personally. Kendra Scott has a meaning or a purpose to all of the pieces but for awhile I was just buying charms because I liked what they looked like. Recently I did create a piece that does have more meaning for me but I'll share more about that later! I did want to share with you how the collection works, some ideas for creating your own pieces and a secret on the best time to buy! I have talked before about how these make great gifts (especially group gifts) because you can keep adding charms over time and never have to come up with a new gift idea!

When it comes to options, there are so many! You can obviously shop all of the charms, which means you will be sorting through them for days. There are a lot of them. You can start off with a base which are necklaces, bracelets or earrings but you don't have to. You can buy charms and add them to jewelry you already own.
There are several categories of charms to choose from: State charms, Customized charms, Zodiac Charms, Alphabet charms, and Philanthropy charms. There are other options outside of those categories but you can find those in the main section. Of course every charm (and base), come in 3-4 metals: Gold, Silver, Vintage Gold and Rose Gold.

I have three bases. This necklace, this bracelet and this bracelet. The first two I have had for awhile and the second bracelet is a new addition. Like I said before, I originally just bought charms that I thought would work with my other jewelry or that I just liked. They are easily removed or added to a base and you can mix and match them to work with what you are wearing. I have the initial E charm and several customized charms that allow me to add some color when I want to.
Earlier this year, I decided I wanted to create a piece that had a little more meaning to me. Earlier this year the State charms were introduced. Since I left home for college, I have lived in 4 states. I have loved every single one of them. So I decided to start collecting State charms from each of those states. While not all pictured, I now have charms for Virginia, Utah, Florida and South Carolina. I love that each charm represents something unique and special about the state, without being obvious about where they are from.
Kendra Scott Charms Collection Pieces | When to Buy
Each individual charm piece varies in price but they tend to be much less expensive than the rest of the Kendra Scott jewelry. In my mind, the best time to buy anything you want, is when it is on sale. If I have found a charm that I really want, I wait for Kendra Scott to do a promotion or have a sale. Usually those happen around holidays so keep your eye out for those. If you don't want to miss a sale, sign up for their emails!
By buying pieces when they are on sale, I have been able to buy some for up to 40% off! This is really great if you are looking at buying one of the bases since they are more expensive.
