Mt Nebo & The Jordan River Foundation
Mt Nebo & The Jordan River Foundation | Mt Nebo
Our driver then took us to Mt. Nebo. For those of you that don't know, Mt. Nebo is the site where Moses showed the Promised Land to the Israelites. The church on the top of the mountain was being renovated so we couldn't go inside but the views from the top of the mountain were amazing.
Mt Nebo & The Jordan River Foundation | The Jordan River Foundation
On our way back to the hotel in Amman, our driver took us to one of the Jordan River Foundation Handicraft factories. The Jordan River Foundation was founded in 1995 by Queen Nour. It encourages Jordanians to participate in the local economy by providing training and jobs. One of the jobs is creating handicrafts that are unique to Jordan, including rugs, pottery and mosaics. All of the products are handmade and the materials all come from Jordan. We were given a tour of the show factory and then released into the show room. Of course there were so many things to look at! The work that the people of Jordan have done is amazing. We may have bought a piece or two!
Mt Nebo & The Jordan River Foundation | Going Home
After a full day of touring, my mom and I had to stay up all night so we could catch our 3 am flight back to Abu Dhabi. Flying at those hours is pretty brutal, but when they upgrade you to first class again, it's not too terrible! Our flights home on Etihad were just as amazing as our flights to Jordan. If you are looking to fly to the Middle East, I would highly recommend you look into flying with Etihad. A driver met us a the airport when we got home and helped us get all of our bags to the car. It was really nice to have someone else take us home from the airport after 20 hours of travel!
I hope you have enjoyed my recap of the Jordan trip! Thanks for reading.
Mt Nebo & The Jordan River Foundation | Update
Paris ordered two large pieces from The Jordan River Foundation to be shipped back to Virginia. We were told that the items would take a few weeks but we would receive exactly what Paris had ordered.
8 weeks later, we received a phone call from a customs agent at the local airport. They had received the items and they had cleared customs but we needed to come a collect them ourselves. They were being held that the offices of a Jordanian shipping company at the airport. So we went to their office. When we asked to see the items before signing for them, we received backlash. Of course as soon as things got weird, we knew something was wrong. We insisted on seeing the items before signing for them. They brought one of the pieces out and it WAS NOT what Paris had ordered. But no one would take responsibility. Paris called the store in Jordan and left messages, talked to people and got no where. We even took pictures of the items we ordered and the items we received. They weren't even close to similar.
So we went back to the customs office and signed the items over to them, allowing them to be auctioned off at a later time. Paris then called the credit card company and cancelled the charge. Of course, as soon as that happened, she started getting calls from the store in Jordan. They were upset that they didn't get their payment. Since they didn't want to fix the problem, they stopped complaining. So I would NOT suggest purchasing from the Jordan River Foundation.
