How To Get Blog Pictures Without An Instagram Husband | Taking Solo Pictures
When I started this blog, it wasn't mean to be a lifestyle blog. I wasn't taking pictures of myself or my home or Jackie all of the time. But as time went on, the purpose of this space changed and I needed to take more pictures. The Husband has a full time job and very often works 70+ hour weeks. Most evenings he isn't home until after dark. I also work full time so taking a day to do a bunch of photo shoots doesn't make sense right now. I can usually squeeze in a set of pictures 1-2 times a week. If The Husband can't do it, I ask my mom to help.
I don't love being dependent on other people. When I can, I try to take pictures on my own. I had already purchased some of the equipment I use for doing Youtube videos. It has taken some experimenting and educating myself but I have learned how to take pictures on my own. I spend one day a week to get 3-5 sets of pictures done on my own. Until now, no one has known that I am the one that takes these pictures.
How To Get Blog Pictures Without An Instagram Husband | My Equipment
The two pieces of equipment that I use the most, other than my camera, are my tripod and my photography lights. I can set my tripod up on my dresser and sit on my bed for pictures. My camera has a self timer setting, which is what I use to take the pictures. It can take a lot of shots to get exactly what I want but that isn't any different than if someone else were taking the pictures. I also use my tripod when I do pictures in my bathroom. I can angle the tripod so that it can't be seen in the mirror, point the camera into the mirror and get the shots I need.
I bought a background stand when I started doing Youtube videos. I used it to drape my backdrops on for videos and didn't think anything else of it. That is until Anna of Anna with Love shared how she took top down pictures. I had always wondered how she did it and I was so excited when she shared. When I realized that the clamp she used was less than $30, I knew that it would help me get more pictures that I wasn't getting before.
