How To Get A New Dress Without Going To The Store
I bought this dress to wear on my wedding day between events. It was such a brilliant idea since my wedding dress was HUGE! I love this dress but since it it white, I really could only wear it a hand full of times. It still fits really well so I decided to try to dye it.This was a bit of an insane endeavor. I have only ever dyed burlap fabric so this was an entirely new experience for me. I found a beautiful bright pink dye at Jo-Ann's. When it finally arrived I couldn't wait to dye my dress. Following the directions, I first got the dress wet.I then started the washing machine. I only used warm water. Because I was working with a cotton/nylon blend fabric, I put a cup of salt and a cup of vinegar into the water. When the machine was full, I added the dye. I them agitated the water so that it was all mixed together.I then put the dress into the machine and mixed it around. I closed the lid and let the machine go through its full cycle. When it was done, I pulled they dress out of the machine and rinsed it out I'm the sink until the water ran clear.I hung the dress up in the bathtub on the shower head. I wanted to make sure that if for some reason I hadn't gotten all of the dye out, it only dripped into the tub. It took about 12 hours to fully dry. Now I have an entirely new dress and it only cost the price of the dye! This is a great way to reduce the amount of money you spend on clothes and the number of clothes you have! I now also have a new dress I can wear when traveling or doing an event.
