Formulate Hair Care Review | How It Works
In order to get your customized shampoo and conditioner, you need to fill out the hair quiz. They ask about your natural hair color, length, natural texture, hair thickness, oil level, scalp sensitivity and if you have dandruff. Then you tell them what your routine is and what your goals for your hair are. You can then choose the scent you want and how strong you want the scent to be. Formulate then creates your custom shampoo and conditioner and sends it to you. When you sign up, you get a 3 shipment supply of 450 ml per shipment. That can be last between 6 and 9 weeks depending on how much product you use.
One of the coolest things about this whole set up is how the feedback works. Download the Formulate app and sign in using the same email address you ordered your products with. You can then change your answers from your hair quiz and give feedback on your product formula. You can even chat with customer service to let them know if you are having a problem with your formulation. I'll go more into how this works in the next section.
Formulate Hair Care Review | The First Round
I was really excited when I received my shipment. Everything looked great and they even sent a card reminding me how I responded to the hair quiz. There were even directions on how to use the products. I loved how they smelled and was excited to try them out. To be honest, my first attempt was an epic fail. I used the recommended 5 pumps of each product and rinsed well. When I was drying my hair, it was like it was coated with a nasty film. My hair was stringy and felt disgusting. After half a bottle of dry shampoo, my hair looked like it had been washed three days prior. I thought that maybe, I used too much product and decided to give it another shot. I used less product and got the same results. I wasn't happy.
So I reached out the Formulate and let them know. Because they are all about making sure the formula is right for your hair, they were happy to send me a new set of products. They tweaked the formula and I received the new products in less than a week.
Formulate Hair Care Review | The Second Round
After my first experience, I wasn't as excited the second time around. I took a more pessimistic approach but was still interested in the results. I could tell right away that the formula for each product was definitely different the second time around. I noticed with the first batch that the shampoo and conditioner were the same consistency and the shampoo didn't lather at all. The second set of products I received were much different. The shampoo lathered and the conditioner was much thicker.
I could tell as soon as I started blow drying my hair that this time was going to be different. My hair wasn't greasy or stringy. It looked amazing after I finished drying it and I loved how it looked.
Formulate Hair Care Review | How My Hair Reacted
My hair has never looked this good. It is softer, shinier, and moisturized. There were two things I was looking for specifically from this shampoo and conditioner, which I included in my hair quiz. The first thing was oil control. I have oily roots and dry ends so I was looking for a balance. I have only used these products twice and I am already using less dry shampoo between washes. My hair is softer and looks so much better.
The second thing I was looking for was curl definition. I have a weird hair texture where I don't have curly hair, I don't have straight hair and I don't have wavy hair. The majority of my hair is straight but the strands of hair that closest to my ears are very curly, like ringlets. It doesn't matter if I blow dry and straighten them, they always end up curling back. Since having Jackie, and seeing her very curly hair, I have decided I want to embrace my curls. I am happy with any curl I can get. I have noticed that those specific strands have a more defined curl since using the Formulate shampoo and conditioner.
Formulate Hair Care Review | My Recommendation
After a bumpy start, I could not be happier with my results. I loved that I could reach out, give feedback, and get an update to my products. I don't think I will ever go back to using another shampoo and conditioner. I can't wait to see how my hair continues to react as I use these more!
