The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires
Let's talk about the best playgrounds in Buenos Aires. I am an American mom who's lived in Buenos Aires since June of 2024. I have two kids and I've spent a lot of my time going to many of the parks in Buenos Aires. I have complied a list of the best parks to go to!
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 1-Parque de la Estación Coghlan
The first one is right next to a train station. There's a cafe and a library right there as well, so it's a really nice little area to just hang out for a few hours, especially if you're between activities. One of the cool things about this playground is that it's made to look like it's a bunch of building blocks that have been stocked on top of each other. There are different levels inside the kids can climb on and tunnels and climbing areas between the two sections. I love the use of the letters inside of the playground as well. Kids are able to climb on the outside of the playground too. My daughter saw a bunch of other kids doing this and eventually she started doing it as well. It took her a little while to figure out how to climb all the way to the top and then get down, but once she did it, she absolutely loved it. She has continuously asked to go back to this playground. It's not incredibly convenient to get to, but it's really cool once you get there. I would give this a 6/10, but my daughter would probably score it higher.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 2-Plaza de Juegos Nutria Gigante
This playground is at the far end of Ecoparque, which is in Palermo. It has a two story carousel and is shaped like a giant nutria, which is so cool! There are also other aspects of the playground that integrate the habitat of a nutria, which is really fun. There are spaces for climbing, a lot of slides, and lots of swings as well as a smaller area for younger kids. It's very easy to get to. However, it's only open when Ecoparque is open. I would give this an 8/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 3-Plaza Granja
Plaza Granja is a new playground that opened recently and is farm themed. It is right across the street from the US Embassy in Palermo. It is easy to get to, and there is a lot to do there. I'd give this playground a 9/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 4-Plaza Inmigrantes de Armenia
This playground and park is located just on the edge of a very large shopping district in Palermo with tons of restaurants around so it makes it very convenient. This is one of the larger playgrounds with two different sections. One section is for younger kids and then the other section is for older kids with a bridge connecting the two. It is really cool and has great accessibility and convenience. Honestly, this one gets a 10/10!
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 5-Plaza de Intendente Casares
Plaza de Intendente Casares is another playground located in Palermo. It seems like Palermo has the nicest playgrounds. This playground is tree themed, which is super cool and it is massive! There is a little mushroom area for younger kids to play on, but the whole park is still not exactly geared towards younger kids. It's very easy to get to and only about a 10 minute walk from Ecoparque, but it does get crowded really, really fast. I would give this one a 7/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 6-Plaza Noruega
This playground is located in Belgrano and is just one block away from a subway station so it's very easy to get to. We really like this one specifically because it is geared a little bit more towards younger kids, but still has a lot of stuff older kids can enjoy as well. The only downside to this particular playground is that, unlike most playgrounds in Buenos Aires, it is not completely fenced in. There is a fence around the entire plaza, just not a separate fence for the playground. Because of that, I give this one an 8/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 7-Plaza República Árabe de Egipto
This is a space themed playground and is SO cool. It is across the street from the planetarium, but due to construction it is definitely not exactly easy to get to. Because of that, I would give this playground a 7/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 8-Plaza República de Chile
This playground is in Recoleta, not very far from the cemetery. It is Andes mountain themed and is absolutely incredible. You can go under, through and on top of this playground. There are swings, as well as tons of slides. They slides do get hot when it is a lot hotter outside and the sun hits them, but most of the slides are covered, so it's not a huge deal. It is fairly easy to get to, there's so much to do and it is perfect for all ages including adults!
I honestly love going to this playground. This is by far our absolute favorite in the entire city. Whoever designed this park needs a pay raise! Because of the accessibility, all of the awesome things here, and how much we love it, I definitely give this park a 10/10.
The Best Playgrounds in Buenos Aires | 9-Parque de la Vicente López y Planes Square
Going to this park was actually an accident, because the park we were trying to go to was under construction. I had to find something else and pivot quickly. We found this one instead and weren't disappointed! This playground is huge. There's so much to do with activities for all ages. It has the most amount of swings I've seen at any playground in Buenos Aires. The baby loved the rock climbing hill with the slide and my daughter loved all of the climbing structures. If you have kids that like to climb, this is the playground for you. It was fairly easy to get to, and there's so much for everyone to do here with a lot of restaurants nearby. I would give this one a 9/10.
That wraps up our list! We really haven't been disappointed by any playground in Buenos Aires and we are excited to keep exploring them the rest of our stay here.
