A Road Trip from Munich to Venice
A Road Trip from Munich to Venice | A Road Trip
We once took a road trip from Munich, Germany to Venice, Italy and back. It was one of the most amazing trips of my life. It was in the early summer so the weather was perfect and everything was so green! We drove through Austria and came through the Italian Alps into Venice. We took our time getting there and stopped a lot along the way. We found little hotels on the side of the road or in a town we wanted to spend more time in. It was the most spontaneous trip I have every taken, and probably one of my favorites!
A Road Trip from Munich to Venice | Bad Ischel
We stopped in Bad Ischel one night and stayed on the river. It was my turn to pick the hotel we stayed in and the Goldener Ochs Hotel caught my eye! The bright yellow building right on the river was just something I could not resist! When we arrived in Bad Ischel, it was dark so when I got to my room I didn’t know what the view was like. The next morning I woke up to an amazing view of the town and a farmer’s market just over the bridge! We ate an amazing breakfast at the hotel restaurant and hurried over to explore the market. There were farmers and crafters from all over the valley, it was incredibly.
A Road Trip from Munich to Venice | Hallstatt
We stopped in picturesque Hallstatt because we were driving right by and how could we resist? I love this beautiful town, which is famous for its incredible houses and the lake it sits on. I love that all of the house either have flower boxes or have trees growing up them! When I think of Austria, I always think of Hallstatt!
A Road Trip from Munich to Venice | Venice
When we finally got to Venice, our rental car was smoking! In order for it to be fixed, we had to leave it at the Venice Airport for three days. We took a water taxi into the city and went straight to the Hotel Danieli. This hotel is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. I love the history of the hotel and that it is in the middle of the city. I was enchanted by Venice and all it has to offer.
We ate breakfast on the roof of the Hotel Danieli, which overlooks the Grand Canal. The views were spectacular and the food was pretty decent too! The car rental company kept pushing back when our car was going to be fixed so our scheduled one night stay in Venice turned into three nights! My memories from Venice are ones that I will always cherish and I am dying to go back!
