2023 Christmas Decor

I look forward to decorating for Christmas all year long. While I usually start decorating for Christmas on November 1st, it just didn't happen this year. We had a lot of activities the weekend of Halloween that we were participating in. Right after that, I had to dive headfirst into the headboard and bed frame that I did so we could get them done in time for family to come visit. However, after our visitors left I was able to get decorating done which made me so happy! I've really come into my own with decorating, so I wanted to share some of my style choice with you.

2023 Christmas Decor | Main Floor

I love decorating because I finally have figured out my Christmas style. I used to do blues and whites and silvers because I really don't love red in my Christmas decorations. When we moved into this house, I got rid of all of my old Christmas decorations except for the sentimental ones. I decided to start from scratch and I love how it is now. It's very much my personality with a lot of light pastels and fun colors. For the most part, the decorations are very usable and the kids can play with them, which I love.

I'm still trying to figure out where everything goes this year. Last year I put the cabinets and new couch in our main living area, so the Christmas tree couldn't go where it normally goes. We ended up moving the piano around the corner and put the tree where the piano normally is. It's all working out, but it's just different this year.

I have a lot of nativity scenes. The ones that are more fragile and I don't want the kids playing with go in or on top of the china cabinet so that they are safe from little hands and from getting broken and that way everybody's happy. My in-laws send me a piece of the willow tree nativity every year and then they send a nativity that is kid proof every year as well, which I love and has become a great tradition

One of the main things that is not different is the cookie garland. I've talked a lot about the cookie garland before, It's one of my favorite things to do every year.

2023 Christmas Decor | Upstairs

A new thing this year is the white flocked nutcracker from Walmart. I added a little bit of pink tulle to just spruce it up and make it more cohesive with the rest of our decorations. I think it's super cute.

Another new thing I got was a pink Christmas tree for my daughter's room, because the white one we had in here had seen it's last days. It was old and inexpensive so it was time for it to go. The pink tree was too big for my daughter's room. So I took out the bottom section and added lights because it wasn't pre-lit either. I added icicle lights, which I thought looked so cute, and I love how it turned out. We then decorated together and she was thrilled to help. I love how it turned out and more importantly, she loves it.

I'm still not 100 percent sold on how the decor for our primary room has turned out yet, but I feel like I'm getting there.

I did decorate the landings. I usually have my Christmas trees with a little bottle brush and fabric and wood ones kind of all in one place, but this year I decided to do little vignettes of them all around the house and I really like that.

I did that going up to the top floor as well. I really love how it all came together. This time of year just makes me so happy and surrounded by cozy Christmas decor brings the holiday spirit into our home. Happy Holiday decorating!
