2019 Gift Guide for Kids
2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Shopping for Kids
A gift guide in October? You probably think I am crazy. But bare with me for a minute. After asking on my Instagram Stories for input about Gift Guides for the holidays, I had so many responses that I wanted to make sure you all had enough time to see these Gift Guides before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So every week between now and then, I will be sharing a gift guide on Wednesdays.
Now that is out of the way, let's talk about today's gift guide. Shopping for kids, especially when they are not your own, can be difficult. If you are shopping for a child that is not your own, I would STRONGLY suggest talking to their parents before you buy anything. Make sure you are getting something the child will enjoy and isn't something the parents don't want in their home. I personally try to gift something that I would like to have in my own home, which is why I tend to avoid noisy toys. On that point, I have rounded up more than 300 items for you to pick from and I'll talk about my reasoning for them below. While doing this post, I surveyed friends and family members to see what was on gift lists so you I have some good intel on this! I don't think I have ever put this much energy into a gift guide so I hope that it's helpful!
2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Babies
I find shopping for babies fairly easy, but that may because I have had one. I did several posts on gifting to babies, you can find them by using the search bar. But I will share a few of our favorites here. I've linked a bunch more options at the bottom of the post.
Jelly cat animals & coordinating books are one of my favorite baby gifts. I like to give something that encourages learning and development, a book, but I think that babies identify better to those books if they have a toy to go with it. My brother and sister in law gave Jackie this set for Christmas a few years ago and it has been a favorite!
Freshly Picked shoes have been a favorite in our house and they come in soft sole, mini sole and sneaker forms. So you can find something that will work for whomever you are gifting to. Just be sure to check the sizing before you buy! Maybe even size up so you know they can wear them in the future.
A favorite gift we were given when Jackie was a baby was a play tent. They are not super expensive and since Jackie was crawling, she would go in and out of the tent all the time, loving that she had her own little space. These come in a lot of different designs and shapes so there is a lot to pick from.

2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Toddlers
This is the easiest group for me to shop for, probably because I have a toddler. Or maybe because there are so many options? Whatever it is, I have a lot of picks for you in this age range so I will only touch on a few here. You can shop everything at the bottom of the post!
I have talked before about Doughsie Dough kits. These are a great unique gift for a toddler. They come in lots of different themes and 2 sizes with the most expensive being about $30. Jackie has loved hers so far, she asks to play with it every day. I ended up getting her a second one to keep at Paris's house and she loves showing everyone her play dough set. And the best part is they are gender neutral!
I discovered Taylor Joelle dresses a few months ago and we fell in love. Jackie loves the dresses I have gotten her and I can't wait for the ones that will be released in the next few months. They are all original designs and our favorites are the character dresses. They are comfy enough to wear every day but Jackie does identify her Belle and Rapunzel dresses when getting dressed in the mornings.
I have been eyeing the Nugget play couch for almost a year. Since we live in such a small space and just bought a couch, this doesn't seem like a rational gift. But I want everyone else to have one because they look so fun! They come in a bunch of colors and I love supporting a small business.
Stuffed animals and figurines are always a good idea when gifting to a toddler. We love the Little People from Disney as well as the figurines from Disney. When it comes to stuffed animals, we love Jellycat and Cozzy Co. If you are looking for a bigger gift, a play house or a tent are always a good idea!

2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Kids 5+
I feel like there are a lot of options for this age range, just like toddlers. Especially if you include all of the LEGO options, there are so many. And since there are so many, you can find one that will work for any kid you are shopping for. Based on the information I was given, craft kits, especially jewelry making kits, are very popular this year. I remember getting these as a kid a loved them. I love that they are coming back into popularity because they are such a fun project!
LOL dolls have been big recently and they are on several lists of kids I talked to. Again, there are lots of options when it comes to LOL dolls, so you probably can't go wrong with this one.
We have been using the Rad & Happy coloring pages since April and they have been popular even with the older kids. It would be fun to get a subscription for a kid in this age range so they have something fun and different as a gift.

2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Kids 10+
That tween age can be hard to shop for, no matter the gender. As I have said in reference to myself and others, tweens are awkward even when they are alone. They just can't help it. So What do you get them? Most want a phone, tablet or laptop. But most of us aren't gifting that to tweens so let's talk about what you can actually get them.
Polaroid cameras are coming back and while I find this really funny since it's "retro" which makes me feel old, they make great gifts for tweens, regardless of gender. You can even get a kit that includes the camera, case, film, stickers, frames, batteries and more. And the kits come in a variety of colors so you can find something that will fit the tween you are gifting to.
I have been hearing a lot about bath bomb kits this year. Again, this reminds me of what I would have asked for as a gift as a kid. I loved crafting so I can relate to this. There are lots of different brands to pick from but I have linked the highly rated ones for you.
Mini flying drones also seem to be popular this year. These are great for all genders and are fairly inexpensive. This would be a gift that I would strongly recommend that you check with the parents before buying!

2019 Gift Guide for Kids | Teenagers
When it comes to teenagers, it really depends on the teenager. They are all so different and opinionated so getting them gifts can be a little tricky. Most want a phone or a tablet so it would be easy to just go ahead and give them that, which is totally fine. But what do you gift a teenager that isn't yours and you aren't buying an iPad or a phone for? I have linked options for a few of these ideas at the very bottom of this post!
I have found that for girls, nice jewelry or a nice wallet they will use every day are always a good idea. Something that may not be on their wishlist but are excited to get. Paris and I have used this strategy a few times with my younger cousins and it tends to work! I like to stock up on these items during sales so I have them when I need them. The Elisa necklace from Kendra Scott was a popular teenager gift last year so I am sure it will be a hit again this year. And if you did gift it last year, the style has been updated this year so it would make another great gift this year. I will be sure to let you all know when it goes on sale!
For boys, I have found books or a piece of sporting equipment or a gift card to their favorite restaurant is a good idea. It depends on the boy since they are going to have different interests but I have found those to be good options!
