Where to Find Sensory Friendly Halloween Costumes

It's almost Halloween, which means it's time for Halloween costumes. If you have an autistic kid or a kid that struggles with sensory input, this post is for you! I want to share a few shops that have really great sensory friendly Halloween costumes while also being great for every day clothes too!

Where to Find Sensory Friendly Halloween Costumes | Hanna Anderson

First shop is Hanna Anderson. We have loved their soft pajamas dresses for a long time. When they started carrying these costume pajama sets we were thrilled! They have so many accessory packs you purchase separately to go with different Hanna Anderson pajamas and dresses. We love that this one is mermaid scales on the pajamas and then there's a cute and soft tutu and headband that go with them. They are top quality and have so many options from mermaid to fairies to dragons to lions and more!

Where to Find Sensory Friendly Halloween Costumes | Taylor Joelle

One of our other favorite shops is Taylor Joelle. I found this brand when my daughter was about two and while they have a lot of Disney inspired outfits, they also have licensed Harry Potter and Wizard of Oz, gaming and other outfits, for both boys and girls.

For the girls, they have dresses that are not only beautiful, but have a soft tulle and a soft cotton lining underneath so it's not scratchy, itchy or irritating. The tag is also soft and sewn in which eliminates the scratchy tag meltdowns and many of the dresses have accessories already built in.

For example, the Bluey dress has a hood with ears, and others come with detachable capes secured with Velcro at the shoulders, which makes them great for Halloween, but also great for everyday play clothes.

These dresses are a bit more expensive than the average toddler dress, so I personally tend to buy them when they are on sale. I also size up one or two sizes since my daughter wears them ALL of the time. I have seen some similar type dresses at Walmart and Gap for less money, however I've noticed the lining on those are not as nice as the Taylor Joelle. So, for me, I  would choose these every time.

I add accessories from my daughter's room, closet and dress up box that we have purchased from places like Amazon, Target and Walmart. Some of my favorite accessories are velvet lined headbands because they are so much more comfortable for sensitive heads. I also recently found princess headbands where the tiara rotates, so you don't have to have the headband at an awkward angle.

It's so important for us to have costumes that don't irritate my daughter so we can have a fun and safe Halloween. These shops have made that possible so I will forever recommend getting Halloween costumes from them. You can find the links to our dresses as well as the accessories linked below. Have a happy and safe Halloween!
