UAE: Post Event Thoughts

UAE: Post Event Thoughts | Breezing ThroughSo this was the first international event that I did of this scale. There was a lot I learned I was good at and a lot I learned I was not so good at. I made some great new contacts and developed some incredible friendships. This picture was taken after the last day of the event and you can tell we were exhausted!UAE: Post Event Thoughts | Breezing Through Things I am good at:

  • Making sure the trains run on time. I about 1/4 Prussian (Northern German), so I can get really bossy and strict. This is great when you are responsible for 300 people and you need to stay on schedule!
  • Keeping calm in a crisis. We were lucky in that we didn't have any major crisis during our event. There were a few minor ones though which made me really have to think on my feet. I was able to keep myself and the others around me occupied enough that we could take care of the crisis without freaking out.
  • Delegating. I did a pretty good job at delegating tasks that I didn't need to be doing to the rest of my team. They always did an awesome job with anything I asked of them!UAE: Post Event Thoughts | Breezing Through

Things I am not good at and need to work on:

  • My facial expressions. If you have been keeping up this week, I am sure you have seen the many faces of Emily while running an event. I need to be better about keeping how I feel to myself and not letting it be all over my face!
  • Pacing myself. I have a bad hip and a bad back (I am way to young to have those kinds of issues) and I need to be careful about how much pressure and strain I put on my back and hip. I was not good at making sure I sat down more and I slowed down.
  • Delegating. I know, I just said that I was good at this, but it is something I need to work on still. I could have passed off a lot of things that I felt like I needed to take care of.

UAE: Post Event Thoughts | Breezing ThroughOver all, I feel like the event went really well and I am so excited to be doing the same event in Jordan in February at the Dead Sea! Keep following along for updates on how that event is progressing! Thanks for reading!Breezing Through Blog
