The Wedding Party

We had an amazing group of people in our wedding party. It was mostly family, but there were a few friends in there. Like most women, I have had a few bad experiences with bridesmaid dresses. So I decided to let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses. The only requirement was that it was black. Personally I feel like as a bridesmaid you should be able to wear a dress you can reasonably wear again or wear one you already own. My sisters-in-law all ended up wearing black lace dresses. I don't even think it was coordinated but it turned out great!My aunt made the incredibly adorable dresses for the flower girls, can you believe that! I loved that she incorporated the yellow and the shape of my dress. They made for some incredible pictures!One of these pictures is very special to me. I had seen the picture on Pinterest of the bride, her mother and her grandmother's left hands and I knew I needed to have a picture just like it. I only have one living grandmother and I am lucky enough to see her almost weekly. I love that this picture shows all of our rings and how different our styles are, but also how similar. I picked my engagement ring and didn't realize it at the time but found out later that the shape of my band is the same shape of my mom's band!We gave everyone in the wedding party an assignment. They were assigned to follow myself, The Husband, my parents, his parents and my grandparents to make sure we got enough to eat and drink. I believe someone was also responsible to greet guests and collect gifts. My cousin that was assigned to me was amazing! We didn't do a receiving line so I just floated around talking to everyone. If I looked cornered or had been talking to someone too long, my cousin came and helped me escape. She also made sure I ate! I actually got to eat a lot of food from my wedding thanks to her! One of my best friends from college flew out for the wedding. He was a few states over working for the summer so the timing was perfect. He was assigned to take care of my mom. My mom had woken up that day with a 101 fever and didn't feel so great. So he made sure she had plenty of caffeine and meds. You can't even tell from the pictures that she was so sick! Everyone was amazing and such a huge help! Our wedding wouldn't have gone so smoothly without them!
