The Complete Modest Wedding Wear Guide | Why It Matters
After my What To Wear to A Beach Wedding post, I got a lot of questions about what to wear to a wedding in general. So I thought it would be good to have a complete guide for you all to refer back to when you need it. Obviously the items that I have linked below won't be available forever, but they will give you an idea of what to look for and where.
Dressing appropriately for a wedding is key You don't want to overshadow the bride but you also want to look good. At the end of the day, you should wear what the bride/groom asks you to. But if you are given some leeway, here are some guidelines and options for you!
The Complete Modest Wedding Wear Guide | Mother of the Bride
This is one of the harder roles to dress for. You don't want to overshadow your daughter but in reality, this is your party so you want to look amazing! The first thing you need to know is what the color scheme of the wedding is. The second thing is the length of the dress. The bride might have something she wants you to wear or she may have guidelines of what she wants you to wear. Based on the information she gives you, you can then figure out what you are going to wear.
These stores all have sections specifically for Mothers of the Bride. I have already filtered those to only include more modest options.

As the mother of the groom, you still get to shine! In my opinion, classic is the best way to go in this role. You don't want to over shadow the mother of the bride or the bride herself but you still should look amazing. I love the dresses that Ralph Lauren has just for this occasion. They are classic, understated yet beautiful.
Most stores do not have a "Mother of the Groom" section. Which is something I personally think they need to fix. But no one asked me. So I have filtered some of my favorite sites so that you can look through them to find something you love. You can also shop my favorites down at the bottom of this post.

Being a bridesmaid can be tricky. The bride can ask basically whatever she wants, and you need to go with it. The current trend is to give everyone a color and have them find their own dress. For my wedding, I had the bridesmaids all wear a black dress and it worked beautifully. My cousin had us all wear sage to her wedding and while I didn't love the idea at first, it turned out to look amazing! You have lots of places to look for a bridesmaid dress. If you have the option I strongly suggest buying something you can wear again and again. You will be spending at least $100 on this dress, you want to be able to wear it again.

Asos also has a bridesmaid section of their dresses department. I love Asos for bridesmaid dresses because they come in regular, petite, plus, tall and maternity sizes. So if the bride has asked that all of the bridesmaids wear the exact same dress, there are options to do that.
Macy's also has a bridesmaids section of their dresses department. It isn't extensive as other sites but they have so good options!
BHLDN has some beautiful options and I love their separates! I actually bought one of their skirts for my cousin's wedding and it was perfect.
The Complete Modest Wedding Wear Guide | Wedding Guest
You basically have free reign when it comes to being a wedding guest. There are a few rules you should follow though. DO NOT wear white, unless specifically asked. Unless stated on the invitation, wedding dress code is usually cocktail attire. The invitation may ask for black tie or more casual but unless there is something specific on the invitation, cocktail attire is the best route to go.

The Complete Modest Wedding Wear Guide | Flower Girls
Having a child as a flower girl can be tricky. You don't want them to wear something too expensive that they will ruin, but you want them to look the part. You also don't want them to wear something ridiculous. There are a few places that have beautiful flower girl dresses for you to choose from.
Nordstrom makes it really easy for you and has a Special Occasions subsection in the Kids department.
Lord & Taylor has a beautiful section for flower girls as well.
BHLDN is probably my favorite on the list for flower girl dresses. They are beautiful and decently priced.
