Can we talk about Jackie in these pictures for a minute? I thought about cropping her out of these but I decided against it because it's real life. And she wanted to participate. I thought it was adorable.
You always need a little black dress in your closet. Funerals, cocktail parties, black tie events all call for a little black dress. You can invest in one and use it all of the time or you can spend less and buy several to wear on different occasions. Any way you decide to do it, you need to have at least on little black dress in your closet.
Luckily, modest ones are pretty easy to find. When I was in college, pretty much every dress I owned was a little black dress. As I got older and went into the work force, I tried to branch out with my colors. Working as a conference organizer, I tried to stand out so people could find me easily. But I still try to always have at least one little black dress in my closet.

I love this one from Sexy Modest for work functions. I wore it in March to a conference and it was comfy and versatile all at the same time. The peplum hid any tummy I was trying to hide and I love the sleeves on it! I also love this one and this one from Sexy Modest.
Rachel Parcell has been a go to for me recently when it comes to dresses. She has some classic black ones and I love the style and cut of her dresses. I have this one in red and I LOVE it. I would get it in black too if I could justify having the same dress in two colors at that price point. You can see a full post on it here and here.
I love this one from Poppy & Dot for a more casual look. It doesn't wrinkle and is perfect for warmer weather. I love the ruffle on the sleeve, it gives it a little something special. You can see a full post on this dress here.
