San Francisco Marriott Marquis
We checked in on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sky was bright blue and the temperatures were in the 70s. It could not have been a more perfect California day.Marriott has worked hard to make check in more efficient. The staff was expecting the hotel to be filled to near capacity. Yet the flow at the front desk made it seem like just an average day. We were greeted without a wait and provided with all our necessities then escorted through the lobby to the elevator (there are several different banks of elevators to several different towers so it is easy to get disoriented). We went directly to our room which Chuck found unsatisfactory (someone had smoked in it prior to our arrival. So we went back to the front desk. Again without having to wait, Chuck got another room arranged and we were on our way.We settled in and then went to the lounge. The lounge looks into atrium giving the appearance that it is much larger than it really is. It is actually a nice size and amply stocked no matter what time you visit. There's always a nice supply of drinks and snacks, plenty of places to sit, and many television screens to view. If you want to sit and look out over the atrium, people watching is another way to pass the time. The breakfast fare is plentiful. They even brought me gluten free bread upon request. The views from the street are not to be missed. There is much to see, do, and eat, within in steps from the door.
