Our Typical Weekday Schedule | Balancing Act

Before my surgery, I felt like Jackie and I had a really good routine down. In the last 6 months, things have changed, mostly because Jackie is walking and needs to be moving around more. I am still working full time, selling Maskcara Beauty, doing this blog, and being a wife & a mom. It is all a balancing act. So I am sharing a peak into our weekday schedule so you can see how we make everything work.

Our Typical Weekday Schedule | Mornings

Jackie has always been an amazing sleeper. Most days she will wake up between 6 and 6:30 am for a bottle and will then go back to sleep until 9 or 10 am. So I get up and get ready for the day. The way our apartment is laid out, I can stay in our bathroom and bedroom without having to go out to the kitchen or family room where she can hear me. I am usually ready by 8 am so I have the next 1-2 hours to work. I will blog, work on Maskcara or work depending on the day. I try to spend my time doing one thing in the morning so I am not multitasking and focusing. I don't have specific days for each thing but on Thursdays I do a live video on my Maskcara Facebook page. That helps me stay consistent with my business.

Once Jackie wakes up, I get her ready for the day and we head over to Paris's house for work. Jackie comes to work with me every day expect for one day a week when she spends the day with my aunt & cousins. We have created a playroom for Jackie in Paris's family room where she has tons of toys and it is enclosed with a gate. She loves spending time in there and I can bring my laptop in with me and work while she plays.

Our Typical Weekday Schedule | Afternoons

After lunch, Jackie will usually go down for a nap. Like at night, she is an awesome napper. She will usually sleep for 2 to 2.5 hours in the afternoon, letting me work uninterrupted for that time. Two days a week we have my 5 year old cousin at the house so I try to spend nap time doing something special with her. We sometimes go to the store or make a craft. I call her my starter baby because I have been watching her every week since she was 3 months old. She is my buddy and she taught me how to be a mom so when Jackie came I was ready. Being the youngest in her family and the youngest cousin, she has had a rough time with having Jackie around and the attention she needs. I have found that spending some one on one time with her to make her feel special helps.

Now that the weather has been nicer, it rained for most of May, I take Jackie outside after her nap. She loves climbing the steps on my parent's front porch and "watering" the flowers. To her, watering the flowers means holding a watering can and shaking it until all of the water is gone. Somehow, she doesn't get herself wet. She likes making puddles and playing in them, which is when she ends up getting wet. Turns out she is a little water baby.

Our Typical Weekday Schedule | Evenings

Depending on what is going on, Jackie and I head home between 5 and 6 pm. We live within 20 minutes of most of my mom's side of the family so there is often something going on. If The Husband beats us home, he will make dinner (thank you Hello Fresh!), otherwise I will make dinner. After dinner, we will take Jackie down to the park in our building. Yes, our building has a park. She loves running around, kicking her soccer ball and yelling. We have made friends with some of our neighbors who have kids around Jackie's age and they all love playing together. It is a great way for Jackie to wear herself out and get all of that pre bedtime energy out.

After the park, we usually have bath time. Jackie has always loved bath time, because it involves water. She has recently started putting her face in the water when we drain it. After bath time, we get Jackie ready for bed and make sure she has had enough to eat. I noticed she wasn't sleeping very well so we decided to feed her right before bed, in addition to her dinner. She started sleeping through the night again instantly. Jackie usually goes to bed between 8 and 9. We put her into her bed when she is awake so she puts herself to sleep. We have been doing this since she was about 4 months old and it has been great. There have been phases where we had to lay on the floor in her room for a few minutes but she has grown out of that.
