Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | What Do Artists Need?

As a Maskcara Beauty Independent Artist, there really isn't a lot I need in order to be successful. When you join as an Artist, you purchase one of the two Artist kits, which is the only thing you NEED to buy as an artist. After that, you only pay the fee to maintain your website (which is $10) every month. No minimum selling requirements, no ridiculous fees to stay an artist. It's simple and it's doable.

But after you receive your kit, you may way to buy a few extra things in order to get yourself out there and boost your sales. I have found since becoming an artist in September 2017, that there are a few things that have been worth spending money on to help my business. Today I am going to walk you through what those things are and why I think they are worth the money. Luckily none of them are expensive!

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Ring Light

The purpose of a ring light is to make it look like whatever lighting you're in is natural lighting. You can accomplish this a lot of different ways but I think a portable ring light is the best option.

There are lots of different options when it comes to ring lights. I have tried several different ones but my favorite is definitely the one I am using now. This one has clips onto a surface, holds my phone and has three different light settings. It plugs in to any USB port which is how the light turns on. You can adjust which light setting you want along with how bright the light is. While it isn't the most portable ring light, it still is portable.

You can also buy a light that clips into your phone. This needs to be charged and only has one light setting but you can adjust the brightness on it. I found that I lost this a lot and it didn't provide the right kind of light.

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Back Drop

Not everyone has a set up that they can set down in front of before every picture or video. We currently live in a small space and I don't have a permanent space where I can do my pictures and videos. So I decided to get a backdrop that I could use whenever I needed to. I originally bought a marble backdrop and thought I loved it. But it wrinkled easily and I never got the original creases out of it from when it was mailed to me.

The Husband kept saying that the backdrop didn't go with my brand. So I finally broke down and bought a new backdrop. Rose Gold Sequins is much more in line with my brand. It also doesn't wrinkle! I can drape it over the laundry room door in my bathroom and do a live video in front of it. It is exactly what I needed! I even bought a second one for when I do events or need more of the space behind me covered.

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Sample Materials

This really isn't critical but I have found that having some sample materials on hand is a good idea. Sometimes you have a customer that wants to try the Stay Spray or the Restore Brush cleaner before buying it. Or you want to throw a sample into a gift bag for and event. No matter what, having a few materials on hand to make the samples is nice.

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Twinkle Razors

Do you save your face? You should if you don't. These razors are game changing. They exfoliate while also removing that peach fuzz from your face, everyone has it. This allows for makeup to go onto the face smoother and stay on longer. Buy some for yourself and buy some extras to send to your customers. They will thank you, trust me!

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Brush Holder

I didn't get one of these until recently but I am so glad I did! I keep my personal brushes in a drawer in my bathroom. But I needed a way to display my Artist brushes for an event I did recently. This holder I found on Amazon was perfect. It has just enough slots for the brushes and it makes a great display piece. Since it is plastic, the brushes are the focal point, not the holder.

Maskcara Beauty Artist Must Haves | Makeup Remover Wipes

I feel like this is a given for when you are doing makeovers. Most people are not going to show up makeup free so they need to remove their makeup somehow. You can definitely use the Maskcara Beauty makeup wipes but I personally like to buy the ones from Target that are cheaper. If someone wants to try the Maskcara wipes, make sure you have those on hand.
