Lunch at the South City Kitchen-Atlanta

We stopped at the mid town Atlanta location of the South City Kitchen. It's in a bohemian neighborhood in downtown Atlanta right across the street from some nightclubs and around the corner from the Four Seasons Hotel (so you know it can't be a bad neighborhood). They also have a location in Buckhead and one in Smyrna. They sell themselves as "upscale southern cooking." The interior was done in a comfortable upscale style. They have upstairs seating, as well as a patio out on the street.

It was crowded so we had to eat at the bar. They seem to specialize in dishes with pimento cheese, so I decided to order a pimento grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich was tasty. It featured homemade pickles and bacon which were a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the house made potato chips. Chuck ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The highlight of his meal was the BBQ sauce. He let me try some and it was a nice, balanced blend of sweet and vinegar with a little spice.

This is a good spot to eat and I can see why it's so popular. It could easily work as a setting for a business lunch (although it does get loud in here when it's full of people) a dinner date or just a casual lunch with co-workers. It's also reasonably-priced. Our lunch was less than $30 with a tip. That's pretty good for a sit down lunch in a downtown location in a major city. Highly recommended.
