Leibster Award

The Liebster Award | Breezing ThroughLast week I was nominated by Jody, a fellow travel blogger over at the Tropical Tourist, for the Liebster Award! I am so grateful she thought of me! I had seen this around the blogisphere before but I was never clear on what it was. For those of you who are wondering, The Liebster Award was created to bring recognition to newer bloggers and hopefully increase the traffic to their blogs. One blogger nominates a group of other bloggers and asks them a set of questions that they must answer on their own blogs. Each of those bloggers in turn nominates a group of bloggers and creates a set of questions for them to answer.Be sure to check out The Tropical Tourist and read her great tips and advice on traveling to the Tropics! So here are my answers to Jody's questions. Why did you start traveling?I started traveling when I was very young because my grandparents moved to Germany. My parents too us to visit them over Christmas and Summer breaks. We would use my grandparents house in Germany as a home base and traveled all over Europe. After my grandparents moved back to the States, my parents continued to travel. They thought it was important for my brothers and I to see a much of the world as possible. When I started working, I know I would be traveling a lot and I love it!Why did you start writing about it?I had people asking me all the time how I traveled the way I do. I avoid checking bags on airplanes at all costs and I can get two weeks of clothes into two carry-ons. I have had to go through the process of getting a visa in a foreign country for more money than expected. I decided it was time to start sharing how I traveled. What has been your favorite travel destination?I think that London will always be my favorite place to travel. I have been there a handful of times and spent a lot of time exploring but I still haven't seen it all yet. I love all of the history that is there and the mixture of cultures in one place. You can find any kind of food in London and people from all over the world. How do you choose your next destination?I usually don't choose my next destination! My travel is dictated by my work schedule and which event I have to go to next.Do you always travel to new destinations or do you like to revisit your favorite ones over and over?It is a mix of both old and new. Whenever I get a chance, I go to London and explore a new part of the city. But I love going to a new place and experiencing new things.Do you ever get nervous before you go to a new destination?I am always nervous! I always feel like I haven't packed the right things or prepped enough for a new culture. What type of accommodation do you prefer when you travel?I usually stay in a Marriott but when I am planning a new event I get to stay in really nice hotels because I am scoping them out as potential locations. What’s your favorite time of year to travel?I love traveling in the summer, especially to the beach!Do you spend the Christmas holidays on the road or do you celebrate at home with family?Oddly enough, both. My family tends to travel around the holidays so we are on the road but together. What has been your scariest travel moment?I was traveling to Egypt as a senior in high school. I was in the Charles de Gal airport in Paris for an 8 hour layover. I don't like sitting in airports so I walked around. About 3 hours before my flight left, a man started following me. I know it wasn't a coincidence because I would duck into restroom and wait a few minutes to cone out. When I did, he was always waiting. After awhile he went away but when I got to my gate, he was there! I boarded the flight and got to my seat. This man proceeded to ask the man sitting next to me if they could switch seats! I was scared to death! Luckily someone else intervened and I didn't have to sit with him.Do you think your travels will ever stop or slow down?I hope not! Even when I have my own kids, I want to travel with them and show them the world like my parents did. So here are my nominees:Aries of QuaintrelleJacky of Keep Calm and Blog OnChristina of Route BlissKristin of Treats and TravelsEster & Jacob of Local AdventurerAngie of Reasons To DressSarah of Sky EnvyAnnessa of Seeking SunshineJeanine of Fabulous Life In JamaicaYou can find your questions below and when you are done, be sure to read the rules!!QuestionsWhy do you travel? What is it about traveling that you love?Do you travel alone or with others?Do you usually pack light or do you tend to overpack? What is the weirdest experience you have had traveling?Where is the furthest you have traveled? What is your preferred mode of transportation? Why did you start blogging about your travels?Where have you had the best food? How often do you travel?Where is your least favorite place to travel? The Liebster Award rules are:1) Thank the blogger who nominated you, with a link back to his/her blog2) Answer the 11 questions your nominator asks you3) Nominate 5–11 bloggers with under 500 Twitter followers4) Create 11 questions for your nominees5) Display the Liebster Award logo on your page6) List these 6 rules in your blog postBreezing Through
