How to Travel Like a Local
Starting from when I was small, my parents made sure when we traveled, we got the most out of our experiences. This included traveling and exploring like a local. There are lots of ways to do this, but today I am going to be sharing four ideas t0 travel like a local.
1) Walk as much as you can. When you are walking, you are experiencing more than you would if you were in a car. You might not be able to see as much in a short period of time but you will really be able to experience the area you are in and you will see what the locals see and experience every day. It's also a great way to exercise!
2) Eat where the locals do. When you are walking around, you will find that all of the tourists eat at certain spots. Usually at hotel restaurants or near major sites. Go out of your way to find a place where there are few tourists and is in a local neighborhood. The food is always better and you will really get to experience the local culture.3) Take the train. I love that you can take the train almost anywhere in Europe. It is such a fun way to see the country and get to your next destination. Its usually a beautiful experience as well!4) Hop on a boat. They can be slow in some countries but they are always an experience. Try to hop on a commuter boat to really get a local experience. You aren't going to see what the local experience if you hire a private boat, so avoid that! I hope these tips are helpful! How do you travel like a local?
